I had an 04 6.0 F350, I loved the power but it was in the shop 33 times. I filed lemon ford gave me $12,500 told me to keep it. Tell this day I'm still shocked they gave me that much and told me to keep it. I ended up trading it in on a DMAX

That's a record. My Dmax was in nearly 30 times. Only difference is GM told me there was nothing that could be done. To add insult to injury I lost $10,000 roughly when I dumped it on my Ford.

Plus supplying me with a Cobalt as a rental is a joke. I am self employed and my truck is needed for work.

Gm sucks when it comes to paying out. The Lemon Law people told me ford was easier to deal with compared to Gm

I have not seen one make it past 125,000 without issue. That sucks. They are strong and I like the way they run and pull. But they are ill designed. The 7.3 was king. May be slower but it didn't self destruct like the 6.0.

If you put the bullet proof kit on them they are pretty stout. Studs, head gaskets, egr delete and new injectors. Other than that, pay your money and take your chances.

Before you get all upset, know that I am not brand loyal. I prefer my Chevy Dmax(04 with 130,000). But I have serviced Them all and owned all 3 brands. All junk at some point and just basically paint and iron.

Don't let brand loyalty sully your judgement. I used to. Starting with Remington shotguns, Harley Davidsons and ford trucks. I grew. Still own an old ford, Remington, and Harley. Just wont but new. Too big a pack rat to sell any.

Yup...all brands suck actually. i had to put a $3,500 tranny in my 94 dodge ram diesel after it had 105,000 miles. The dodge mechanic told me he was surprised it made it that long. ... then tried to backpedal when i asked him if theres a recall on it.

i think the trick to it is to require the day of manufacture placed on all stickers...and never purchase a monday or friday vehicle.

Might work great for some 20 yr old pimple faced kid living with mom & dad, but not for real world where owner gets a huge fine for removing emmissions system.
I got into it with a kid once a few years back about how great his 6 l was once he put head stud kit and head gaskets on it.
I was reading your post and it reminded me of something. Where are these 20 yr old pimply faced kids getting the money to buy a $40 to $50 thousand dollar truck? I live in upstate NY where myself and a lot of my friends pull our trucks on the weekends. Diesels are getting real popular in the "stock" class. I am in my 40's and have been trying to find a one ton diesel at a reasonable price, but can't afford it, but yet every weekend I see a "kid" that isn;t even old enough to shave, running a $50 thousand dollar truck with $20 thousand dollars of programmers, turbos, injectors, tires, propane, and nitrous oxide. How are these kids getting these trucks to begin with and what am I doing wrong? lol

It boggles my mind. I have worked for everything I have, and still can't afford a good used diesel. I have seen these kids run these trucks til something breaks, and either take the extras off to get it warranteed or trade it in for a new one. God help the second owner.

All of my farmer friends are in the same boat I am. They don't make 50 grand a year, let alone have to offset it.

It doesn't get any better with the 6.4l either. Mines going in for what looks like emissions problems. I'll find out when I give it to them exactly what the problem is this time around. I can't believe I actually went back after the 6l for another round of punishment with the 6.4l. Now they're threatening to not extend my warranty. If they don't, I'm stuck with a truck that I bet costs me $8,000 in repairs out of warranty. Can't do it, but can't afford a new truck to replace it either. It really sucks when these trucks fail miserably in a lousy business environment and you have to fork money out to fix them. One month of warranty left.
I just met with another farmer across the bridge from me. He had 3 6L fords. First one had the typical 6l problems and a rear vibration they could not get rid of. They ended up buying that truck back, so he got an 06 replacement. '06 and his '07 have both had cabs removed, heads pulled, turbos replaced. He got so disgusted he sold both trucks at a loss and bought an Isuzu cab over and he said he loves it. Uses a 1/2 ton gas as an everyday driver and Isuzu for farm stuff.
Is that legal? If you want to purchase the extended warranty- during the time the original warranty is still in effect, how can Ford refuse to sell you coverage?? That alone would force a lot of people to sue out of a basic sense of fairness... I feel for you, The fact that you bought another Ford, after problems with the earlier truck- shows you have given Ford more than a little brand loyalty.. I hope they honor the warranty, you get that extended coverage and the truck gives you the next 100000+ miles of trouble free service..
