6.0 Powerstroke letter

I contacted a lawyer before I got the letter. Had an 06. Replaced the turbo and egr at 70000 miles. Ford offered 500.00 as a settlement. I held out for a whopping 750.00. A far cry from the 2500.00 it took to replace the turbo. Screw ford. They should be ashamed of themselves for the 6.0. I went to the dealer and they offered 14,000.00 trade in. I went to dodge and they gave me 18,000.00. Friggin ford piece of garbage. Never again. Contact the lawyer and get to ford like they got to you. Most important is never buy a ford again

It doesn't get any better with the 6.4l either. Mines going in for what looks like emissions problems. I'll find out when I give it to them exactly what the problem is this time around. I can't believe I actually went back after the 6l for another round of punishment with the 6.4l. Now they're threatening to not extend my warranty. If they don't, I'm stuck with a truck that I bet costs me $8,000 in repairs out of warranty. Can't do it, but can't afford a new truck to replace it either. It really sucks when these trucks fail miserably in a lousy business environment and you have to fork money out to fix them. One month of warranty left.
I just met with another farmer across the bridge from me. He had 3 6L fords. First one had the typical 6l problems and a rear vibration they could not get rid of. They ended up buying that truck back, so he got an 06 replacement. '06 and his '07 have both had cabs removed, heads pulled, turbos replaced. He got so disgusted he sold both trucks at a loss and bought an Isuzu cab over and he said he loves it. Uses a 1/2 ton gas as an everyday driver and Isuzu for farm stuff.

I figured this thread would deteriorate into a bash. News flash: they've all made a lemon here & there and most everyone has had a not so pleasant experience with one manufacturer or another.

I won't bash, I will simply share my experiences without ad homonym attacks. I wish those who have not experienced the pain and financial loss could be a bit more understanding what it's like to drive a loaner focus for weeks at a time trying to make a living.
If you really think the other manufacturers made trucks with as many warranty claims as these 6l trucks, you are uninformed.

Which is almost impossible with ford since they introduce a new diesel about every 4-5 years on average since 2000.

i don't see how that makes it impossible? Unlss you are using some kind of new math.

if a machine comes out.. and I wait 4-5 ys.. it is not precluded just because ANOTHER new model might be out in that time. all the previous model do not disapear fromthe face of the planet.

What he's saying is a new diesel comes out in 2003 (6.0), you wait 4 years and find it's a lemon. Then Ford releases a another new diesel (6.4) and you wait another 4 years to find out it's STILL crap just as Ford releases ANOTHER new diesel (6.7). Wait 4 more years and what's gonna happen? Ford gonna release a new diesel when this one fails...

sounds nice as a story.. but worked out differently.

I owned a dodge gasser. was put into a 04 6.0 at work.. it was fine.. we have a ouple of them. the other had an egr kit.. etc. int he meanwhile.. I deided to get a 7.3. we have one of those at work as well. Never say the need to 'wait' for another. the 7.3's are fine. if I HAD to jump to another diesel right now.. it would likely be another 7.3 and if not ford.. than a dodge 5.9 I like dodge just fine.

Why is it every ford diesel runs "fine" once you make modifications to it? Like head studs, egr delete. Oh yeah, no problem, lets pull the federally mandated emissions control system off it, then whole, it runs like a champ. Lol
Might work great for some 20 yr old pimple faced kid living with mom & dad, but not for real world where owner gets a huge fine for removing emmissions system.
I got into it with a kid once a few years back about how great his 6 l was once he put head stud kit and head gaskets on it. I asked him if it was so great why wouldn't ford just do it? I think he's still trying to come up with the answer.
Sound guy, i guess what I was trying to say is that ford doesn't give any diesels a chance. They keep changing them while GM & dodge have changed very little. I think changing diesels at the same rate you change body styles is a bad thing to do. You are right.. A diesel like the 6l can be built for 4 years then abandoned and you can wait to see if you like it after its already been continued. I can tell you right now most guys think used 6l trucks are poison and very few guys want them. I have a 6.4l and nobody is interested in buying it. I'm stuck with a truck that's pretty good with a bad engine that's blowing white smoke and making sounds I've never heard from a Diesel engine before with under 60k miles on it and the dealer agrees, they and I have anally maintained this truck. Mechanic strongly advises me to extend power train warranty because he has seen "numerous 6.4l failures and they are very expensive to fix". He makes no extra money if I buy an extended warranty. He's only looking out for me because he and I are friends. He doesn't want me to waste my hard earned scant extra money on a warranty, but advises me to do so anyway. That tells me a lot.

I guess im lucky with mine. its a 2004 and ive had no issues except for a temp sensor in the tranny. other than that it tows like a monster. accelerates up steep hills pulling my 30' horse trailer, and gets fair to middlin mileage considering its hauling the trailer at 70mph up a hill

Its pretty obvious. There are a number of us that have or had 6.0 Ford trucks with little or no issues. Then you have the internet trolls that sit in moms basement looking over the internet that are experts.
