Having trouble re-connecting 2 of the hydraulic lines. Too much pressure to connect. Any way to relieve the pressure?

Push hose ends against the tire.

Ballpeen hammer and flat punch, hit the center pin on the male and female end to relieve pressure. Just use a rag around it b/c the hydro fluid will spray.

For future reference, if you're going to disconnect the FEL get it to where you are about to disconnect the lines, and with the tractor turned off, move the joystick in every direction to relieve the pressure in the lines, THEN disconnect the lines.

ive also noticed that if i wait for the tractor to cool down...like the next day. the hoses will press in without any issue. the hydraulic temps in the tractor have expanded the fluids and increased the pressure (i am guessing) and when it cools the pressures decrease.

i also disconnect and leave my loader in the shade now on. dont have issues with pressure differential any more.

Here is a gadget you should have.
Simple Tool Solves Hydraulic Pressure Problems
A simple tool invented by George Waite makes releasing pressurized hydraulic couplers as easy as turning on a water faucet. Waite's Hydraulic Pressure Relief Tool works like pliers to grip the valve end. Turn a simple tap on one side of the pliers, and it slowly presses on the male fitting, gradually releasing pressure
Company: WaiteÆs Tools
Name: George Waite
PO Box 66
City: ATWOOD
State: CO
Zip: 80722
Country: USA
Email: bramma@kci.net
Phone: 970 522 5696

I bought one for $34 and it is better than hitting the Hyd coupler with a hammer. I have no connection with George Waite, just a satisfied customer

This may sound like overkill to some; but always wear safety glasses/goggles/facemask when working on machinery. Dirt and metal fly when struck. They also fall when working under stuff. Now add salt, oil, and corrosives and you can seriously and permanently injure yourself. Hydraulic lines can be really dangerous too. If the line's pressurized, you can get a jet that slices through flesh like a razor sharp scalpel. Spent 20+ years in USAF vehicle maintenance and saw my share of pretty horrific accidents. And every one of them could have been prevented, or mitigated with correctly worn safety equipment.
