new X540 or 2006 used x720????

When I bought my new 2009 4520 cab with 1100lbs of weights, and other options it was $34,000. Seems a member here bought a 5075M for about twice that.

I would go with the x540. before even thinking about an x700 I would step up to the 1023 or 1026 series.

If the only thing the OP wants to do is cut grass and some basic yard work, the 1023/1026 are too much machine.

The X700 series is more maneuverable than a 1 series when it comes to cutting around obstacles.

You can get a 5065 for about the same money. I just WANT the 5085, but no, the 5085 cannot be had for 4720 money.

I seen a 5065 go at my local dealer about a month ago for 2,000 more than a 4720. I am not sure if it was a model clear out or what, but whoever bought it landed a good deal!

If you look on some of the online tractor sale sites, you can find 5065's for close to 4720 prices.

Probably because the 5065M is no longer being made and probably being closed out. Wife's was $32K, 2WD, Cab, 16F/16R, Power Reverser, Loader ready. Would not want one for an all round utility tractor.
