Well I guess I'll be an outsider too. :( Another problem, I don't think you have to get too close to tell that my Kubota orange touch up won't mach my JD green.
I'm still willing to help out you orange tractor guys if I can.

You know I got to thinking, I still have and use a lot my Kubota bucket on my Kioti.. AND I have Kubota KTAC insurance on my Kioti too:shocked: I like the bucket because it is smaller and better for digging, and already has "scars"..:) So my Kioti still has a little Kubota "blood" in its veins! Does that make my rig a "half breed!"

Switch hitter, I think.

The Lxx10s were the first Grand Ls, as stated. The new "standard L" at the time was the L2500DT,
which I had. This was an ultra-basic tractor with low weight, small operator station, crash-box
tranny, and low 2200psi hydraulics.

Around that time, Kubota decided that "standard" Ls would be "Lxx00", and Grands would be Lxx10s.
Subsequently, all standard Ls ended in "00", and Grands were, Lxx10s, 30s, 40s, etc.
But the earlier Kubotas that ended in '00' were decided NOT basic. The L2900/L3300/L3600/L4200
came just before the Grand L 10s and had all the latest features that Kubota was developing,
including the new FST, fully-synchroed tranny. No crash-box was even offered in that series.

It was a brilliant move for Kubota to come up with the Standard Ls, esp when they started offering
HSTs with the L3400/L4400 a few years after the Lxx10s came out.

Well, as usual I learned something on TBN. I also found a Grand L brochure for sale on Ebay.

One bell or whistle that I had in my GL that I really liked was the fuel fill alarm. Sounds silly I know, but having filled fuel tanks to overflowing with diesel fuel running everywhere, it's a great feature! A slow beep pulse becomes more rapid as the tank gets closer to full. When it's a solid tone, the tank is full.
It's a feature that wouldn't make or break a sale, but a nice feature no less.

I like that feature too.

This is not a feature I have noticed on mine. I will have to pay more attention.:dance1:

That does sound like a good feature, Bill. First I have heard of it.

So many CUTs have overflow catchments and drain tubes to deal with fueling overflow. On
my Deeres, the drain tubes caused some problems. Clearly overflow happens all the time.

You have to have the key on and then it takes a bit before the computer senses that the fuel level is increasing (vs sloshing around from use). It real nice at night when you can't see well. Just fill until the sound is constant.

I guess if I had a diesel pump on my property that might be nice but honestly, in the last 10 years I don't think I've ever overfilled the tank on my tractor. I just wait till I'm under 1/4 tank and dump 5 gallons in.

Other than power steering, HST, fuel and temp gauge I can't think of any bells or whistles I'd want on a tractor. The things that have caused problems on my tractor I could do without like the air filter warning light that comes on for no reason or the nuetral safety switch that needs adjusted from time to time.

Consider this though, on my F150 I don't have electric locks, electric windows, or cruise control. I like to keep things simple and figure if I don't have them, I won't have to fix them (within reason).

On the issue of bells and whistles, I've seen it both ways! I've had crank window systems need repair as well as electric so I have to look at the values of each! It sure is nice to have electric windows when I pull over to the side of the road to talk to a friend!

Just like everything else there are quality issues that sometimes arise that can make a difference in the options life and the use and frustration with a problem. Watching the evolution of them in the farm machinery industry from their beginning to now I have seen what I'll say is the Good the Bad and the Ugly! At this point I see great life out of many of the electronics that are used on tractors. I can't get into the safety aspects to much as that is to cover the companies from lawsuits that have become common place across this country to cover those that might be reckless and endangering. It is often the equipment that is there to protect that fails first.
