When to put up hummingbird feeders?

Had our first hummers on March 22nd. We have seen them as early as March 15th. We put out 5 feeders, love seeing and hearing the little guys. This is a picture of the first one this year just on the left side of the feeder.

Mine have been up for about 2 weeks now and getting more of the little ones every day now.

Have 3 feeders out and now have both male and female Ruby Throated Humming birds at all the feeders. Also a few days back saw a Red Tail Hawk fly past clutching a snake , maybe just a snack ?

I've got Anna's year around so my feeders are out all year.

The one in the backyard has a heater to keep from freezing.

The other 2 will freeze with no damage.

Our hummers show up like clockwork April 15 or a couple of days later. One bird usually shows up looking in our window and it is the only one for a few days, until many show up a few days later.

It's still a bit cool in MO, so we have not seen them as of yet. We will probably put ours up in the next week to 10 days.

You guys ever get any other birds on your feeders ?

I've caught my Juncos taking a quick sip many times.

What amazes me is the number, at the most I get 2 at a time.

We love our hummingbirds and rarely take our feeders down. We had a couple all winter and currently have several at the feeder. Very entertaining little creatures......lots of birds this time of year. Blue jays, robins, eagles and flickers. Gold finches and starlings haven't arrived yet.:thumbsup:
