Well Don, not an easy answer. The Atkins loss was back in 1977. Would have to say that with some fluctuation, I basically kept it off until I retired in 93, then it crept back on, slowly at first, but these past 5 years have been a surge. Would be easy to blame it on reduced activity, first after the house being mostly built, then my aching knees, but the hard truth is I just ate what I wanted, when I wanted, super sized, extra portions, eating past full - pure bad habits.

Gonna have a small glass (6oz) of beer in a while to finish off my 600 calorie fast day :)

37 degrees with rain right now, actually sleet I think. Heading out at around 4:30 to go north for the weekend. Not the best weather, but good friends, drinks, food and the first weekend at camp.

Sodamo--What has worked for me is the near total elimination of saturated fats and six to seven servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Zero red meat, baked fish a few times a week, a little chicken and count the salt as well. Lots of fiber type things, easy on the sugar and the challenge is to keep from losing too much. Very few processed foods as well. Seems where you live would be natural for fruits and vegetables.

Couple the above with some sort of serious workout of an hour a day with no skipping days and your new screen name could be "Sodamo Slim". Gotta be serious about it though or it won't work. No or almost no saturated fats and no excuses.

Rained cats and dogs overnight in Ohio and a cooldown into the 50's is on tap for a few days. Tree buds are opening up and there seems to be hundreds of birdstrying to nest in my trees. Am looking hard for the first hummingbird. Grass grew a couple inches yeterday and I'm thinking it's a good thing I did the lawn mower maint before I put it away last fall. It's good to go right now and I'll need it PDQ.

First cup of coffee is poured. 34 degrees with rain this morning. Heading to 48 with more rain all day. Got enough rain for awhile. As gloomy as it has been the past few days. Thing have finally started to green. Need some sun and warmth and I will need to think about getting lawnmower ready to cut lawn.
Thank for the encouragement about my mothers care. I got many personal reports from people in our town and my family that have used the home we put my mother in. We are very pleased with the care. When we did a search on the internet for ratings on nursing homes. It was just below average. Not good. But when we got personal reports from 10 different families about how good they are. Plus reports on the higher rated homes that did not match their ratings. It was a easier decision. While it has been a very hard decision The support from family, friends, and community organizations has been outstanding. Still a long road to go. For now the constant trip across town have ended. Thanks everyone for the support.
Good Morning All.
