Ford 641 Workmaster Questions and Advice

i have no idea what 'yellow bucket oil'
is.

rear most drain is diffy.

up from that is hyds.. up from that is trans.. up from that is crankcase.


you CAN put UTF meeting ford/nh spec M2C134 in the aft 3 sumps. or put utf in the hyds sump, and a 80w90 gear oil in the trans and diffy.

hyds holds, nominally, 2 gallons.. has a dipstick to check. CAN hold alot more if needed for external hyds.

rear end has a check level plug onthe left axle trumpet side about even with the pto.. it's a pip plug. fill till it dribbles there.

trans is fileld and there is a level check plug on right side about where your heel is , just above the running board. it's on t he trans.. not center section.. so look at the seam between the 2, and lknow which you are looking at. it's a plug.. not a fine thread bolt.

I want to thank everyone especially Sound Guy for the help on my 641, everything is just as you've said except there is no dipstick for Hd. Also I discovered a lever on the right side below the seat on the casing any idea what this is for? I'm trying to bring this 641 back after it was obviously abused by previous owner, fluid changes were so long overdue I couldn't believe the fluid I drained. Again thanks for the help. Any help I can give on anything home repair related please don't anyone hesitate to ask. I am liking this 641 more every time I use it. Thanks Melvin

when it left the factory it had a dipstick for the hyds.

it was right next to the pto engage lever aft of your left heel. it's a round, flattened button style cap. right next to pto shifter in same round cover.

the lil lever by the 3pt control is the draft control. up for position.. ( horizontal ).. down for draft.

Hi everyone,
I am new to the site. Does anyone know if Ford made a 641 Workmaster with a 172ci engine? My tractors serial number says its a 1961 and right above that is 841-L. the hood and grill do not look like an 841 powrmaster, they look like the 641 workmaster. any help figuring out excatly what i have would be appriciated.

Dave is it a four or five speed. 1962 was the last red/gray ones sold so I guess anything is possible. Is the 841 number on the bell housing/transmission area. I am almost certain that part was make for an 800 based on on we had.

172 ci engine and the 841 indicates it is an 800 series in my mind based on TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors info.
