I got some mowing done before the days of rain started. Amazing the difference that 25 more hp over the MF231 made in mowing. Well it is about 60% more hp than what I am used to.


Correction after caffiene cleared the fog I realized its about 50% more power not 60%.........

Congrats. I think it will serve you well. Lots of people feel that JD is always overpriced. The 5D series is a bargin as far as I'm concerned. Just a nice strong well made machine.

I was planning on looking at green and orange tractors but after the value I got at JD I didnt even go to the orange dealers. Very satified with the 5D . Btw I did price several tractors before going shopping.

I looked at a bunch of different colors in that class. The 5D was the best value.

That is a good looking tractor. There seem to be a lot of them around here and I have yet to hear a bad word. Maybe you could post some reviews in this thread along the way and tell how you like it in doing specific tasks, etc? Does yours have a toolbox?

The tool box that is on the left fender is cheap plastic and is only big enough to hold a few clevises and snap pins. Its main function is to discourage riders from sitting on the fender. I've seen ads made in India that show them with a pretty generous seat there with a backrest/hand grip rail for the mother-in-law to ride with you on the way to the market.

I hope my mother in law doesn't see that ad. She has been whinning about sitting on the tool box.
