Brain was a Kubota Tech so I'm sure he has seen a lot of bad practices.

I have a MF 135 that has 5200 hours and runs like a sewing machine.

The only 'bad practices' I can think of for an 80 hour Kubota engine would be........running gasoline in it, the operator throwing the air filter away during a dust storm, or submerging the unit entirely in water(usually this just requires an oil change with new filters).

My 2001 BX2200 is running strong with 1650 Hrs. I'm afraid to park it near the road as someone will stop and make me an offer. Since I just bought a seat cover from North. T I can't sell it now.

Geez guys, lol. I did say NO maintenance. The particular instance I was referring to was a machine whose air filter was so plugged it sucked a hole in it and dusted the engine. It never saw it's 50 hr service. The owner was a little upset that his guys never checked anything.

Glad your not my Dr. I sure wouldn't want to hear about that one person out of 10 million that got ED when he took a flu shot like it was just a common occurance.

In Brians defense he was just giving a range - there is always that guy that does nothing and sometimes a bit less. The part about 6000 hrs should make the majority of us pretty excited. From a home owner or hobby farmer, that is a lot of hours and years of use!

My L2550DT is still going strong with 5100 hours on it. Some parts are getting "old" but the engine runs well. I have noticed a little blue smoke when cold but certainly not anything to make me thing the engine needs to come out.

Maintenance, as pointed out here, is the key to longevity. Oil and filter every 100 hours. Hydraulic filter and fluid change annually. Cooling system maintenance yearly (new coolant every 3 years) but radiator screen cleaning in the spring and just after haying season.

The only failures I have had can be blamed directly on me. Things like physical damage to cylinders, tire damage, corrosion due to fertilizer (from three point spreader) getting into panel spaces, stick through the radiator, etc. All my fault.
