I don't know if they changed anything on the 1 series, but I have a 2320, 200CX and 62D deck and I'll chime in that my loader will curl and raise/lower at the same time. It's not that hard to find the spot and even fine tune the rate of rise and curl. As others have noted, if the rpm isn't up, nothing happens very fast with the loader.
As far as the deck goes, it seems to me that two decks with the same width and same setting on the anti-scalp wheels will give the same cut, at least as far as evenness goes. LIke any 60 inch deck, mine will look pretty bad if you try to mowe short on uneven ground. I switched to Gator blades this year and I don't see a huge difference in the size of the clippings, but it does seem like the overall cut is smoother.
