Getting to know this guy aint gonna happen. Its just the way they are.

And this aint the first time they have called, or complained about me.

A few years ago, I used my scraper blade to dress the edge of the highway shoulder. My drive is at the bottom of a hill. The shoulder was higher than road. The result is water would not get to the ditch. Rather run down the road and wash my drive out, cause it didnt have that hump like the shoulder. Now the township is usually pretty good about doing this with their road grader, but it needed it now and I dont know when they were scheduled to do it. So in 5 minutes, I was done. (only about 20' was hooved). This neighbor called and said I was stealing gravel from the road:laughing:

Last spring, I had my pond dug. He complained about the noisy equipment, and also wanted to know what my intentions were for keeping mosquitos from breeding in the water:laughing:

They also called the dog warden on me once when my dogs ran the electric fence after a deer. Now I can understand if I have troublesome dogs that get out all of the time. But this is maybe a once a year thing that they get out. IF that often.

So playing nice and getting along, I dont think so.

Perhaps you should look into getting a suppressor (silencer) for your .22 They are legal in OH. Yes there is the $200 transfer tax and the cost of the unit itself to consider. But the upside is no hearing protection needed. Nice quiet practice. and Neighbors will never know. I have seriously considered it myself, and am still seriously considering it.

That sure is unfortunate, we have a range in my back yard and shoot quite frequently, we never had a complaint.

I would look for an noise magnifier from the sounds of it. If playing nice is out of the question then I would be as annoying as I could be, just because. I would even get back into riding dirt bikes and making a track near the road just so they would have to live with the noise.

LD ---Have you thought about reporting them to the cops ? Do they ever stray from the straight and narrow ? two can play this game if nothing else works...I know that amounts to stooping to their level but if all else fails...just a thought.:2cents:

He would not have gotten my ID.

We had some neighbors like that for a while, city folk with a vacation house here. In this canyon it's unusual NOT to hear plinking, target shooting and the odd varmint dispatch. They started out calling the sheriff about every shot but eventually gave it up, realizing that's how things are here and the sheriff was running out of patience with their hysteria. They sold out a few years ago; new folks are summer people too, but they like to shoot.

22 shells are ones that I have had for years. Still got a few bricks left so shooting a box or two on occasion dont bother me.

I'll have to see what I can do to get a copy of the report. Might call them shortly.

Not hard to get a copy of the report. Not sure about where you are, but some are free, and others might cost $2.00. Sometimes, can take up to a week, for the responding officer to get the report filed. (Or at least it is that way in a couple of counties I have lived in.)

City Slickers can be a royal pain.

I am not familiar with the laws in your State but this may help. You can get a copy of the report from the Agency that filled it out. Some municipalities call it an "Offense Report". There is normally no charge. You will be able to obtain the Officer's name, but not his address or phone number. You may or may not be able to obtain the person's identity that filed the complaint. Yes, you are allowed to face your accusers, but this is usually done, if and when it goes to court. This method reduces the liability, just in case the party that was complained about decides to make a visit. Best wishes. BTW, Mollasses works better in a gas tank than Sugar.:D
