Ram1500 EcoDiesel V6 revealed!

94 bullet

We need everything but the block and the crank.

There were never heads ordered by jeep nor a rebuild kit. Actually I have found some injectors but I need 8 for the two jeeps. It looks like I will be ordering parts from england just so my wife can have her car back one day. Will be about 6 grand in parts. It just sucks. Completely list faith in jeep and Chrysler. I definitely wouldn't buy anything with a MV motor.

I remember you posting about this before, but not the details. What were the mileage on these motors ? Any particular contributing factor to the failures ? Did you treat your fuel, or did you run raw pump diesel ?

One of my big concerns with specialty imported motors is the right oil making it into the crankcase. Personally, I wouldn't trust a dealer to get this consistently right on a Euro diesel - I'd do it myself.

Thanks for posting again, can't beat direct feedback.

I remember when I was young, my dad bought a 1992 Ford F150 base work truck for less than $11,000 brand new. Straight shift and no a/c. Those days are long gone.

I know the auto makers say they test new engines and vehicles well before they sell them to the public. But I would be one to wait a while before thinking of buying anything new.

HD vinyl floor, and a stick shift, now you're talking my kind of truck !

Shaking out new technology in the field is always important. The tough (but very important) things to figure out on these motors are:

1) How long have these motors been in use in Europe ?

2) What platforms have they seen use in, across the pond ? (GVWR, extra points for commercial duty, police vehicles, etc.) What history do they have as a result in Europe.

If we take VW as an example, we are usually at least a generation behind the diesel tech they use in Europe. Hopefully, that means most of the bugs are shaken out by the time the "new" motor makes it to N. America. (Insert smiley with fingers crossed here).

3) Last, but definitely not least: What changes to the emission controls were done, to satisfy the Extra Profit Always folks ? IMO, 9 times out of 10, that is where the reliability and expensive repairs lie - back to reading the fine print at the dealer, as the Manufacturers have done a really good job of convincing the government to allow them to erode their Emission Warranty coverage - in most cases it is nowhere near as long as it used to be.

I like diesel TQ curves a lot, but Caveat Emptor....

The video said "better mpg than the 25 mpg of the 6cyc/8speed". I'm excited to hear what the real world numbers are like (both unloaded and towing).

Noboy offers a rebuilt engine for it?

While this is all a great idea in theory Chrysler Will not support this motor.

I have two dead liberties at the house. Both catastrophic engine failures due to egr valve on 2.8 diesel. I can't get parts to fix them. One with 85k miles one with 120k. I am told sorry that was the pre-bankruptcy jeep....

Dont believe it...

There are numerous reports of this. The lady who cleaned our office's had the same issue with her Liberty Diesel. She got treated fair and got a Durango.

I say fat chance of buying for $35,000.00 or less. I will be very surprised if $45,000.00 is not more like it. These trucks will be loaded with options and hard for the average joe to own.
