Ram1500 EcoDiesel V6 revealed!

A buddy of mine stopped into a dealer here (Ontario, Canada). The story at the moment is that we will be able to order this diesel even in a regular cab, base truck :thumbsup: w. vinyl floor, crank windows.

Let's hope the story holds.

Crank windows? I have not seen a vehicle with them in 15 years. I assumed it was just cheaper to make them all with power windows and locks.

The Tacoma base model gives you that option but most dealers don't order the stripped down version. They usually add an option or two. When I bought my 2012 there was a regular cab 4x4, manual trans, crank windows and manual doors, rubber floor, radio with CD player, air and heat and not much else. Sitting right beside my truck. I noticed that when I went back to the dealership to get my toolbox off of my truck I traded in that the plain Jane 'Yota was gone. It sold the next morning after I'd bought mine.

Remains to be seen Chris.

A lot of manufacturers have consolidated to power options only, but, we do get some stripped down models once in a while in Canada that are deemed too low end for the USA market.

I just put tires on an '08 Sierra with vinyl floors and crank windows. It was a V8 4wd. Not sure if they are still available, but they were then.

I know a guy that has a '11 Seirra with crank up windows, V8, 4WD, EXT Cab.

More importantly you can't get a manual trans but the 6 speed autos are pretty nice.

Now... if it came with those old school corner fold out windows that I loved and a 5 speed... im sold! Gimme a nice simple work truck, not a mall cruiser !

Those vent windows makes a truck easy to get into if it is locked.

Back then, alarm systems were expensive, now they're dirt cheap - OEM cost is next to nothing today.

But yes, insurance companies have far more influence over automotive design than we do.

I think you may be correct. Than again most people use their trucks as grocery getters anyway. IMO.
