King Kutter rotary cutter...

Hi again all...I'm not having much luck locating info/reviews on a KK 5' 3pt. brush mower that is about 3 years old. It appears to be prior to their new design (domed deck, etc.) and was just looking for some opinions as I found one for sale. Guy at work said he's bent the arms on his and would go heavier next time. Thanks in advance!!!

I have a 6 foot KK and have been using it for around 10 years without issue. I would class mine at light duty though it does have a 60hp rated gear box. I got mine at a good price and it has met my need quite well.

KK made different classes of cutters. IF it is one like was sold at TSC, it is a light duty cutter that was sold cheap when new and even cheaper when used.

But dont take that the wrong way, they are still a good cutter for mowing pastures or whatever behind smaller 25-35HP tractors. But since they were only ~600-700 when new, I personally wouldnt give more than about $250 for it if it is in good condition.

I pull a KK Standard Duty 48" Rotary Cutter, model L48-40.

Found it derelict in the grass. Development's ground keeper employee had been robbing parts off it to keep KK 7' Rotary Cutter operating. This character had vision in only one eye it turned out, was destructive of the equipment, and eventually let go.

I had to replace several frame bits, add oil to the 40-hp gearbox and lube the PTO shaft and universal joints. It has cut just fine for me.

I think my B3300SU with 33-hp/25-hp PTO / 1,900 pounds is a good match for this Standard Duty Rotary Mower. I mowed with it four hours yesterday. I restrict my mowing of saplings to 1-1/4" which it handles fine. Anything larger I knock over then tear out of the ground with a Ratchet Rake mounted on the bucket.

I have Zerco Check Chains fitted between the ROPS and Rotary Cutter for Position Control.

Pre-retirement I worked as a tool and die maker in transistor production equipment. Commonly had to be within 1/10,000ths of an inch in what I did.

Believe me, telling 1-1/4" from 1-3/8" stem size from a vibrating tractor seat is not a challenge.

Any doubtful 1-5/16" stems I leave for a week 'til they have grown a tad, then knock 'em down and tear 'em out with Ratchet Rake on the bucket.

Since trees dont grow perfectly round...

What happens if you have an oval one that is 1-1/8" in the small direction and 1-3/8" in the big direction:confused3:
