The counterweight that came with my BX was not so compatible with my quick hitch. The only way to get the top link attached was to use a small chain and the bottom links barely hooked on and would not lock. So I blame 4Shorts and his mods for getting me motivated to start gathering all the parts I had accumulated and finally put them together. The receiver tube was long enough to extend through the box and get welded to the front and back. Now it is easily mated to the quick hitch and is ready for work.

New lower mount extensions top link solid bar and receiver:

Next project will be to rebuild my old log splitter, built it over twenty years ago and its time to upgrade, perhaps a winch or hyd lift to get the rounds up on the beam. Can't lift them like I use to.

There were a lot more people following your mods than you think  You provided the motivation! I got to use skills I haven't used in many years, however, like riding a bike took only a few minutes to get back in the swing of things. Now I have to make some more attachments for my little Kubota Swiss Army Knife.

Thanks. Glad you think there were a lot of people lol liking my mod the tread. My mistake was I shouldn't have piled so many mods on the one thread. It turned into a runaway train that I couldn't stop. I bet most were saying about me " good lord I wish he would stop posting"

I'm glad I motivated you. You shouldn't keep that talent under lock and key. Your on a roll now so get at it. I want to see more

I was pleased you put it all on one thread coz I didn't have to go chasing around the new threads to find out what was the next think you had got up to.

Timster,

Nice work, I had the same problem with my ballast bx just like yours, but while great minds do think alike, I'm just getting ready to start to set up to learn to weld, so my approach, although amazingly similar, was a little more bolt-on. I'll start a thread soon with the pictures.

Mr 4Shorts,

Not only do I agree with Jim Shooz, I had just gone back to the beginning to re-read your thread as a refresher!

I'm glad to see you back here.

I may have been the first to post that your pictures were missing, but by the constant stream of emails telling me of all the others posting, I was one of many, first concerned about you, and then missin your pictures and posts.

False modesty is unbecoming, a lot of those pages of your thread were generated by other people admiring your abilities and follow through, as well as appreciating not only your work, but your professionalism in documenting and sharing it.

Frankly, you would have to work hard to find any posts from me on your threads because, unless I have something specific to add, I hate to post "I like it too! " posts, despite my appreciation for all you shared.

Timster, sorry for the hijack, but again nice work, as similar to my approach as welding can be to drilling and bolting, though my approach has some lazy bits in it.

Have you given much thought as to what you're going to fill it with to get to the recommended 300#?

Thomas

I used what was handy, driveway stone. Did not weigh the stone but put in a sufficient amount to keep the rear wheels on the ground with the bucket filled with stone. In the future I want to fill the tires and lessen the amount of ballast I need for loader work.

Hum. Not sure how I got included in this but all I'll say is no one needs to explain why they did or did not post on any of my threads. I appreciate your comments but just didn't understand your statement "False modesty is unbecoming" but I will admit its been an eventful week on this end and I'm in a coma like state this morning so I'm much slower in my thinking process than usual. I'll also add that I find it very humbling that you'd still go back to that mod thread and read it over again. Although I have been adding new mods to our web site so that anyone who wants to follow my crazy mods can I wish I could go back to the mod thread and insert a few photos in each mod to at least make it more interesting for those who enjoyed it. I'm am very guilty of one thing. I very much underestimated the popularity of that mod thread but hey "perbodies nofect"

Well you did good. When I did mine I used class "A" gravel in it and the weight came in only at 250lbs. I was hoping for more but with the ballast box on the BX25D I could pick up a full bucket of gravel and the rear stayed down so I'm happy with that. I did mine different than yours because its a different box. I also wanted as much ground clearance as I could get so that's why the trolley to lay it on after its use.
Sorry if I distracted from your thread

It might have been better for you Jim but it was murder for me  if I had done the mods in separate threads I could have taken a break from them and only posted once in awhile. It turned into a run away train.
Now with my own web site and four new mods completed for the tractor Ill post them on there and only when I have the time. Happy to hear you followed them though. Thanks.
