Hydraulic Cylinder Drawing/CAD Model?

Does anyone know where I could find technical drawings or even a CAD model of a hydraulic cylinder that would be suitable for use on a grapple? I'm working on designing a grapple in Pro/Engineer and I really want to be able to put the cylinder in my model to check for range of motion and to make sure I don't get any interference.

If you have a supplier in mind it would be best to ask them. that way you know what you will be getting and that it will fit correctly. If you are going thru all the CAD design parts then for it to actually work correctly you need the model from the company supplying/building the cyl.

I dont know if Surplus Center has cad models but they supply part numbers of cylinders they have available and manufacture so then go after the manufacture for a model off a download or sales & support from their site.

I have used the drawings from Surplus Center many times to create my own models. They should have all the information that you need.

Oh wow, I've never seen that site before.

I realized now I need to pick a cylinder first as they don't seem to be 100% universal.

Any suggestions for a cylinder to base my grapple design around?

I don't know what diameter or stroke is commonly used.

The cylinders on my grapple are 2 1/2" with 8" stroke.

Use a cylinder meeting ASAE dimensional standards. Most grapples do, and you are assured of always finding cheap, commonly available replacements.

Hydraulic Cylinders | Bailey Hydraulics | Hydraulic Supplier You will notice 8" ASAE cylinders are longer pin to pin than non ASAE 8" cylinders. 20 1/4" retracted, vs 18 1/4" retracted.
