Looks like the M8540 setup is out. Puts the assist at 12-13%, which will void the warranty. the recommended setup puts the front assist around 2-3%.

Do you need the R4's over the ags? Seems like you are going to be giving up a good amount of ground clearance and road speed even with the bigger R4's. I have nothing against them just playing a little devils advocate.

hey wmonroe. i have the need to tread on turf areas here and there, but good points on the ground clearance and ground speed.

The ground speed thing between R1 and R4 would concern me. Is my memory correct that the 7040 is already slow in high gear, like 17mph or something like that??? My 9540 runs 22mph in high and I love that. Find myself roading distances of 3-5 miles frequently. In working gears don't think it would matter.

Not trying to talk you out of it, just giving you more to think about.

The cost is 900 for the two fronts with rims and the ride is way better.
I also have it widened out 6in. Front and back and the rears loaded, doesn't feel tippy at all been threwalot with it,now the stock one will scare you, after been in the new one trying the same stuff.

Foreman, how did you widen the front? the dealer is telling me the only way to do it is to flip the tires around...? thx!

If you just flip rims around its going to set really wide,I un-bolted the inner part and turned it around.

Yeah, I could get cast centers, but we don't really need them, there have only been a couple of times they would have been handy in heavy pulling, and it seems like there is always something else on which to spend money, same with an air ride seat, extra set of remotes etc.

We run Industrial tires on our L5740 and a Massey Ferguson 375, only time we had traction issues was mucking out a pond, so you should be good to go with them.

I hear you man...gotta pick your priorities where to spend the $$$. I think I'm gonna go with cast centers and fluid in the rears.

That's what I would have done if our main tractor had not gone toes up at the worst possible time and I needed to replace ASAP, also air ride seat.
