Inconsiderate Idiots at the gas station

This is a big pet peeve of mine, and cause me to wait 15 minutes today :mur:

I know it's an inconvenience and we all have been there. I just think you are doing more damage to yourself with your stress level than you should. It's 15 minutes. How could that possibly change your life? Get out and go get the squeegee and clean your windows to not think about it. Don't let people who are zoned out to the rest of the world drive you off the deep end. Back when I was commuting to work and driving 70 miles one-way, I saw things daily that could have set me off. Instead, I just joked that all those folks worked for Idiots Inc. I just would not let them give me a ulcer or even get me stressed out. I'm sorry this got to you because I don't think any of us are gonna be able to get away from it.

I had one time that I pulled into a station that had about 20 gas pumps, and only 2 had diesel. A Honda Accord was pumping at one of those pumps, and a Toyota Camry at the other. (For some reason, around here it is usually foreign car drivers.) NO other vehicles around. Another Powerstroke was sitting behind the Toyota, so I pulled in behind the Honda. The lady with the Honda came up and spoke to me, and said, "All of those other pumps are open, why don't you and the other truck go there?" I replied, "Because none of those pumps have diesel. You and the Toyota blocked the only 2 diesel pumps." She thought a minute, then was nice enough to say, "I never knew that, next time, I'll try not to take up a diesel pump." I had to thank her, and I hope she learned something. At least she didn't go in and go shopping!

she learned something hopefully.. something that she should have already known when she got her drivers license.

problem is.. most people are walking around condition green, barely aware of the world around them unless it is closer than 2'

i guess the average mc-job holder and oxygen scrubber has no clue about fuel color codes either. I have seen guys pump diesel into their econo-gasser and then have to be towed.

deffinately some people out there surviving on less brain power than some of the animals on my farm... unfortunately.

i have a jack russle terreir-ist and a ferret and a couple parrots.. that if they had hands and a command .. er.. better command....of the english language.. could probably be ruling the world by next weekend. yet the average driver out there is numb.....

Having never had a diesel anything until just recently I'm sure all these peeps pissing you folks off don't do it intentionally, they have probably never considered where there is and where there is not a diesel pump. I never did, but I will now.

ie.. not aware of their souroundings.

doesn't have to be intentional to be aggravating. in fact. i find it more aggravating when it is done out of offhanded non awareness.. vs a calculated choice of selfishness.

at least one of those was not accidental..

Well I will toot my own horn. I had just pulled up to a diesel pump that had gas the other day. Just as I was about to swipe my card and fuel up my little foreign car a big delivery trunk pulled in behind me. I put the pump back in the holster and moved my car over to another pump. He gave me 2 thumbs up and yelled over when he got out. Sometimes ya got to think of the guy behind you. I am a firm believer that good things happen to people who do good things.

I won't pay at the pump. At least in Canada, if you actually start looking into how these credit transactions are processed, it definitely has an Alice Goes Down the Rabbit Hole vibe happening..... but that is another story.

On a criminal level, there are lots of Fuel'n'Dashes going on. I'm hoping there won't be mandatory pre-pay laws put in place here, as that will only add to the "joy" we are describing in this thread.

Between the lost-in-space people already described, and the criminals, it's not getting better....

i don't know of a single pump before you pay place left in my area. it's prepay or pay at the pump. due to credit card theft schemes at the pump.. most palces went to the security tape onthe pump card reader that shows evidence of tampering.. etc.

i frankly LIKE pay at the pump.. and used to avoid walk in to pay places.

mind you i use a single credit card for pumps.. and a seperate single card for internet purchases.. and one for phone purchases.. and yet another for face to face transactions. if any funny business happens. I know at least where to look.. etc.
