Duramax problems! No parts for 2 months

You could also call the number in your owner's manual and start a case with GM. If you have the part numbers they might help you over the phone. Been there a few times myself. I had one LMM Duramax that blew a transmission hose one year after warranty had expired. the truck had few miles on it. They replaced the hose free when the dealer would not. Can't say enough good about GMs warranty.

Side note: I see lots of add on systems with emissions, extra airbags, creature comforts and such. Folks if you don't think this stuff adds money to the price think again. I tell people all the time if you voted for clean air better be ready to pay for it in added fuel costs and extra repairs. Wait until all the coal fired plants get their scrubbers up and running, 20% extra fuel needed to clean the particulates. In the end we al pay.

I see Sprinters, Benz diesel vans needing $1000 dollar EGR, DEF system repairs at 2 and 3 years old. VW TDI 2009 up exhaust system failures that cost upwards of $5,000 dollars to replace after the turbo has polluted them with oil. These new diesels get really expensive fast.

Make sure you document everything.. who you talked to, when, how long, what you talked about and agreed to, etc. Sometimes these get solved quickly, but often they drag on and you will start getting confused and forgetting things after awhile.

I did not see what part number you needed, perhaps there is a workaround someone has?

No they are saying its not part of the power train witch doesn't make sense!!!because with out this the truck limits at 8 mph what's the point of a truck at that speed

Should be part of the EMISSIONS warranty..

You make blanket statements based on your limited personal experience.

My opinion is left out of this. Empirical data within the industry as a whole see GM as building higher quality than Ford. The likes of BMW and Ferrari use GM developed technology. Ford can't even keep Lincoln viable despite all their 'innovation'.

I know for a fact that, at least here within the company I work for, that GM stands behind their product far better than Ford. My boss has described in detail how much more leeway he has with goodwill repairs with GM.

You had bad experiences with GM, just like many others have had, but that doesn't make them lack innovation or quality just based off your personal experiences. Yet you say that the 6.0 Ford problems are Internet hype. They have kept the doors open for many a diesel repair shop for the last 10 years.

I don't have a horse in the race. I don't own either a GM or Ford product and likely won't for a long time.
So THATS why whole fleets changed from GM to Ford/Dodge in the early 2000's?? Had nothing to do with failing suspension parts and seizing motors...

HAHAH.. ok. Myth.

Love it when a brand fan defends thier honor. Its ALWAYS the 'other guy' thats bad, and all 'their' problems are made up or over blown. :)

If a person who had no opinion before on a brand of truck, and turned to the internet in order to find out which one would best suit them, they would read until they were convinced that:
1. All of them suck and the companies that make them.
2. Owners of each are so vile that they would not want to be seen in that brand lest others think they are the same way.
3. To heck with a truck might as well buy a team of mules and wagon instead, those Amish are on to something.

I'm not a brand fan of GM. I like Cummins! And Honda!

I like older GM designs, but nothing current other than the Vette and Z/28.
