Ford says no to Diesel F-150

This bigger faster attitude , could be toned down. The early 7.3 or 6.2 and the 5.9 were plenty to get things moved around..As we go faster and heavier , many don't think about the braking needed to stop.. The big tow weights are impressive , yet so many I see have no mirrors to see around their trailers , and often the trailer out weighs the tow vehicle so greatly . We are back to the tail wagging the dog.

I'm not positive, but I think the first Cummins in the Dodge trucks (1988?) was rated at 165 hp. I think that was there ratings clear up until the mid or late 1990's. These trucks would also haul down over 20 mpg easy.

I always thought that series of Dodge pickups looked great in the 4x4 models. I know Dodge was getting a lot of criticism and drastically changed the style in 1994, which some say saved the pickup line for Dodge. I thought the 1994 model was great, but I still like the 1988 styling a lot. Not so much in the 2 wheel drive models, but the 4 wheel drives looked tough. And those original Cummins engines were what I would buy today if I could.

I agree..I loved the regular cab 4wd rams, the 1991-93 were my favourites.

I would like to see Ford rework the old 2.3L ( 5 main bearings ) that was used in the Pinto, Mustang, Mustang II, Ranger into a diesel and use it not only in the F-150 but also in some of the smaller cars. I really believe they could sweep the market.

I agree also, the first gen 4x4's where tough looking trucks.

Guys, stop it!! I just sold my '92 250 single cab w/ Cummins, 5 speed and 4x4. It hadn't run in a while but I miss it already. :(

Ouch. I dont think I could sell one that was still serviceable

Thats a pretty desirable vehicle. There are basically none of them on the road up here (there are a few, but you get what I mean). Most of them have turned to dust.

.

Honestly the truck wasn't worth saving, good drivetrain and that's it. Minor engine problems that were easily fixable but I was so tired of it I wouldn't spend another dime on it. He has sunk a ton of money on it in the past two weeks and plans on having it on the road tomorrow.

If you have pics, please share!!

I am still kicking my butt for not buying a 93 W250 LE off the lot in the spring of 1994.
