Yeah I've heard EAB is pretty bad up your way. The camp Property I cut on had a pretty good timber sale last November...probably 400 trees or better. I don't think I'll have to look for another place to cut for a while.

Yeah it is. Really stinks. One of my favorite trees. Time to buy a sawmill and build my barn!

Yeah I'm gettin ready to do the same thing myself. There was a massive hickory that blew down up there that I hauled in today. 12ft logs and the tractor just barely got the two bottom logs on the trailer. I hate to Jst turn it into firewood so I may make some trim out of the butt log. Like you, I need my own mill!

I'd heard the Waglers were working on getting a Wood-Mizer....

I recently used the RCF2772 to cut about 8 acres at my work.

They've been talkin about it for years. I don't see it happening. That's a super nice cutter you have there. If I keep getting more bushogging jobs I may trade up to a heavier one like yours.

Better not. It's a slippery slope! Pretty soon you find yourself walking thru the woods looking at trees in terms of 10' sections. When it gets real bad you'll look at a nice straight tall pine and envision bundles of 2x6's. Or when your wife points out a pretty cherry tree you envision the cabinets you could build. :) :)

And stay away from the Woodmizer site!! I warn you!!

They did similar back in 2011 and I'm stuck with:

And then I HAD to get a good 12" planer, and now I'm looking for a jointer. I had only planned to use the lumber rough sawn.

It takes away from seat time!

Helped dad dismantle an old truck for parts and skid out a big sugar maple.

That's a big sugar maple! Firewood or boards? Primo firewood. Best coaling for a fireplace IMO.

I think it'll be a little of both. I couldn't turn it all into firewood so I saved out a few logs to have milled into something. Sugar maple mixed with some oak is about the best as far as im concerned for firewood.
