Polaris Ranger Crew Stuck in Swamp Two Weeks Now....

First: The farmer who pulled my Polaris just sent me a picture of the Polaris seats. I was there on Saturday and the seats were nice, just dirty. Now they are ripped and muddy where a bear climbed inside and crewed the seats! Man can this event get any crazier?

Appreciate the words. My Father was like your Dad. I do love the land, but it is in how I can work with it and make it look better, but natural. By this I mean I love to clear scrub brush and saplings from around a small pine grove and then go in between and clean so the light come sin. And then watch them grow.
I love to leave piles of brush to protect those small ones and to set quite and watch turkey strut. I like to track Bobcat, bear etc both on the ground and by smell, just for fun.
Also, I wanted the land as a back up for her in case times get worse (which they are). She could live
My wife does not like the bugs, heat etc. This has become hard for her since she had kidney cancer. We have discussed this,but this past few weeks we talked more. It is best to turn the 112 acres and me get a smaller acreage. Jim

Just spoke to KTAC. They did not laugh too much as she said they had heard of everything eating seats. They want it to go to the dealer for full check including the chewed seats. This has turned into much more than I ever expected. Jim

You have to give thanks for old farmers and neighbors , They started at 8:22 this morning and it was in your carport "4 hours later" and it looks like they hosed it down some ! did it drive home or was it towed ?

You are right GOM. This was a Father and son who stopped their work day and helped. Did it in hours, not days. They drove it about 1300 feet through mud so they must have hosed it off because there are no tracks on the concrete.
I hope they left the seats as was so I can see where the bear was before he chewed the seats.

I read this till I got tried,, I stuck mine in the back pasture one winter when it was so wet I knew better than to go out to check on an old cow that was due,, I high center it.. so much clay on the wheels that I could blow it off,, then had to walk back about a mile,, stopping every few feet to clean my boots because of the gumbo clay sticking to them.. The old cow did drop the calve on the only high ground around ,

I let it dry out for a couple of months or more.. then when back out with a tractor and pull it back to the barn.. I had another one I could use around the barn so I didn't see any difference letting that one set in the back pasture or next to the barn,, They are designed for outside with lots of water, mud and whatever,, when I did go and get it,, it was stuck but this time it was dry clay.. had to lift it with the front end loader before pulling it back.. I left a trail of dry dirt all the way to the front pasture.. It's a piece of equipment designed for that use,, it's not like your wife caddie you're leaving in the swap.:laughing:. Lou

I've been reading this thread since the beginning. I figured I would be quiet as I know how frustrating it can get when you have a job to do but don't have the time.

Hopefully this will put a little smile on your face. Years ago I was a foreman for a bridge painting company. We stripped lead paint off steel bridges and repainted them. The owner came to the job one day and said he hired to brothers who worked on their parents farm for years. He told me they are 6' something, 250 lbs of muscle, ready to work. He didn't lie. The part he left out is that the shared the same brain. They couldn't function unless working as a pair. When I would ask one to go fetch something the other would just vanish. For the first week I didn't pay that much attention. The second week it was a challenge to see if I could find a way to split them up (never could) and after the third week I adjusted to how they worked.

One day during lunch I noticed that one had the word "Flash" tattooed on his arm. A few days later I noticed the other brother had "Light" on the other arm. One day I asked. They said the fire department gave them those nicknames but didn't further. One day I ran across another member of the fire dpt and he filled in the rest of the story. Seams that the two brothers were just the same as at work. The chief put them in charge of recharging the flashlights. The rest of the guys came up with the nickname as a joke but they didn't get it. As I read your comments about I could picture in my mind them trying their best to get your Polaris out after getting it stuck. They would have done everything you said, ruined every tool they touched because they were focused on the single mission.

It seems that the mindset today is that everything we eat comes from a grocery store in a pretty package and grown and processed by someone else and no thought is given to the "old farmer " who toiled for many hours in the seat of a tractor or on his knees in a field , tilling land , herding livestock ,or pumping water to provide it ! Always remember if you ate this morning you have to THANK A FARMER ! So many family farms have been lost to a new subdivision ,orchards have been let go , small 100 head or less herds of cattle operations gone because of the cost of the land , over use of pesticides and just a general sense of let someone else provide my food I'll just stop at Hardie's on the way to work ! if you actually added up all the money you throw away on fast food or a 32 oz soda every month you could afford that next piece of equipment you have been wanting so long ! I can say this because we decided a few years ago to eat every meal at home or from home we pack lunch when needed we grow our own vegetables, I keep more than a few chickens , I keep a couple steers at my neighbors farm and butcher 1 a year here at my house and we buy 1/5 of what we used to from a store .does it take time ? Sure , Is it better tasting and better for us ? We think so , I'm probably singing to the choir in this forum but we need to remind people everyday ,NO FARMERS NO FOOD !:2cents::thumbsup:
