Not sure what kind of work you'll be doing but it's certainly smart to try and anticipate potential problems ahead of time. That said, a custom skid plate or two might be the simplest way to go.

What do the hoses under the tractor in the second pic go to?

I'm thinking that it's for the third function valve. If you add a grapple you need a third remote to control it or a valve that can be switched between operating it's main function, like the front bucket curl, to do something like open/ close a grapple. The lines could be going to the diverting valve. Without those extra hoses the new 60 series doesn't look too bad. I still like the 40 series better for working in places where things like branches could catch the hoses. But I think you could make a protective shield if needed.

FEL third function. That's where a custom skid plate looks like a good idea. Poor design by Kubota in my opinion. However, it's the only weak spot for the kind of work I do, IMO, but YMMV.

Where are the rear remotes lines routed on the l60?

I am trying to figure out if all that stuff below the fuel tank on the l60's is to do with the 3rd function.

btw I looked at some xx60's today at a dealer with no remotes or 3rd function. All the lower lines were pretty well enclosed. they did not have that metal housing below the tank that shows in the pics in this thread.

interestingly, the space between the FEL connectors and the back of the tire on a l4060 was noticeably more than an l3560 even with the same wheel and tire. ( maybe 8-9 inches gap) Anyone thinking of buying an l3560 might want to check that out.

I also looked at an l5460 and an l6060 to see the gap between the FEL hose connections and the tire but could not really compare as those both had ag tires whereas the l3560 and l4060 had the industrials.

If the rear remotes on an lxx60 are connected in somewhere in the back (rather than going under the tractor) then maybe one solution would be to use an aftermarket 3rd function and avoid those exposed hoses hanging below the tractor. (Or a skid plate if one lends itself.)

Another thing I've noticed is that with some lxx60's the filler neck has a big brace on it and others (even without a cab) don't. First thought it was related to size of tractor but now not so sure why.

Notice first shot has big brace on neck, second a small strap.

I bet the remotes are in same place on a L60 as the are on a L40.

I like where the fuel tank and filler is much better than my 40 series.
