No. I had to get wet:mur:
the two posts on land were drilled with the PHD on the kubota.
The two in the water are just sitting on the bottom. With a 2x6 laid flat and attahced under them, and a 2x6 vertical attached to that. To make a 2x6 "angle iron" piece that the posts set on and keep them from sinking in the mud. Also a couple of angle braces on it for stability.
I had already made up the angle piece and attached the posts to that. So once the dock was set and attached to the shore posts, I "floated" the outer posts w/2x6 angle out and under the deck. Then leveled everything and attached the posts. Then whacked the tops off flush, and attached the remaining deck boards. Water was about waist deep at the end of the dock.

Hope it dont sink too much, the front posts will probably sink a few inches a year if not a bit more in first few weeks. NICE view of the lake tho, I think I would have left the front 2 stick up thru the deck so a rail out fron to put your feet up on and when sunk (deck gets too un-level) you could have strapped over top of the posts and ratchet it up some & re-lag once up/level...
Should be a nice place to sit next July when it gets above "OH MY GOD IT'S COLD" temperatures! Neighbor needed help to get his furnace going yesterday lol... Me being born & raised Ohio boy I still have all the windows open but did turn the fan off

Really nice !!! I'm sure you will use it a lot. Since we get more cold weather, I pounded schedule 40 4 inch into the bottom when the ice was on. Total of 9 posts for the dock - 3 on each side and 3 in the middle. Shaved 4 x 4 posts down to fit inside the schedule 40 and pointed them to get some penetration into the bottom. During the summer, bolted on the 2x joists and put on the decking and added a bench. So much nicer having a dock to sit on. Have had it for over 10 years now and still doing fine. Enjoy !!

I have my doubts that it will sink much. The pond bottom is solid. And the way I did the 2x6 angle at the bottom, thats a total of 7" wide and 12' long. Thats about 7 sq ft, or 1008 sq in. Deck probably weighs ~1200lbs. I dont see it ever being more than 2000lbs with people/chairs on it. And the front is only seeing about 1 psi of force. And this clay we have down here.....do doubt in my mind that it will hold.
Now the back posts is what I am more worried about sinking. since they are just ~8" round posts in the two corners, and the 2x10 resting on the bank, I think it is more likely to sink than what is under water. And if that becomes an issue, I will raise it up and put a flat 2x6 under the back. The posts dont really have to carry the weight, they are really just for keeping it anchored to the shore.
I didnt want to leave the posts long, cause I dont want a rail. Wife wants a paddle/peddle boat. plus with swimming if it ever warms above freaking cold, it will be easier to get in and out without the rail. And if it does ever sink and I have to add, the electric poles are free.:thumbsup:
