Quick Attach Forks

   / Quick Attach Forks #21
2 local dealers quoted me ($350) for a new set of quick attach pallet forks that would fit my 3016.

That would be my ultimate solution, but I'm trying to "ease into it" by looking around (army retirement drives my buying abilities).

So far, I have had zero luck in finding used equipment such as an old bucket that I can take a torch to; make it into a custom log-cradle by cutting the shape of a "C" into both sides (for the logs to rest in without taking too much strength away from the bucket).

Good luck sir, let us know what you came up with.

Exfaxman, that is a awesome looking rig; thanks for the operational definitions.

Thanks, more info in the Toolcat Forum. Some of my pictures here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/toolcat/270965-toolcat-5610-series-f-pictures.html

Check out my other thread ...
These are forks I made for $40 (I used 1.5" by 3" C channel, didn't have any scrap so I bought 10') and an hour of cutting and welding. These forks are about 40 inches from the bucket, half that should be fine for your application. I lifted at least 500 pounds with no damage to the bucket. They will shift side to side if you knock them around. The clamps are 7/8 threaded rod with nuts tacked on under the top of the clamp.

Those would probably work for me too. I don't have the welding experience but I think I have a neighbor who does.

The railroad ties that have been lying on the ground are probably buried in an inch or two. But at worst I'll have the backhoe mounted to knock them around first. The pick them up wit the forks.

Like JerryK said "forks are one of his most usefull items"

Even if you don't think you need them you will find all sorts of uses for them (not just moving pallets)
Since your machine's lift cap. isn't through the roof all you need is a light duty set but the ability to move them in and out is a must in my opinion.

This is just my:2cents: but I do believe that if you like to use your tractor around the house to work and clean up a set of forks is indispensible.

I use my Forks more than I use my Bucket.

I didn't realize the diversity of opinions on this when I asked the question.

I have about 6 acres that I want to take out the old fence posts and rest of the crap. none of it is extremely heavy, but a lot just won't fit in the bucket to move. I've dragged crap with the backhoe, but it is awkward and just a PITA. And add in that some of the fence line adjoins the neighbor's property. I don't want to damage their lawn in the process.

I'll let you all know when and what I end up doing. I'm thinking the BL800 w/ stablizer gets me the best deal.

I would get a good set of forks, not clamp ons. Once you have the forks you will see how handy they are and be using them all the time. You will have everything on pallets.

The way all my outbuildings are designed, I can really only go straight in-out. I don't have room to turn without taking out support poles. About the only palletized item I might buy is pellets for my pellet stove.

I know I can get free pallets from several places, but the only way I can think of using them is as firewood. I might change in the future, but for now it is clean up and get rid of everything.

Basically if it isn't hardware or a consumable -- I don't want it.
