Alpine still has R-22 units for sale, though I hate to buy something that will have super expensive refrigerant in a few years.
Example: Goodman GSC130301-DRY 2.5 Ton, 13 SEER Condenser, For R-22 Refrigerant Use (Unit is Uncharged)
I know there is a raging controversy over the Goodman brand, but for me and my usage, I think it would be good enough.
I don't know who you've been talking to about Goodman units. I've been installing them for yrs. It's not the brand it's the installer. You can install any brand sloppy and have all kinds of problems
The systems that say R22 , comes charged with nitrogen. You can charge with R22 or R407C.No way I would use R22. The price of R22 is on the rise .No one will be able to afford it.. just like R12 Goodman has been bought out by Daikin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daikin
