Steel Building Prices

As a construction professional who is involved with the design and erection of steel buildings, I do not understand why it should cost more to have a formed drip ledge instead of a formed groove filled with mortar, assumming everything else is the same.

Is there some other consideration I'm missing? How can one justify embedding the bottom of the wall sheets as a money saver?

Because it is a money thing. Their industrial base plate that I bought for my 30x50 was $1200. Forming a trough, and dropping the edge of you building in there, then backfilling it with 'crete is just about free except for a little bit of labor. Not so free in 20 years when it corrodes off right at the concrete then blows away in a big wind................

Gotcha. Yes, any of the methods I mentioned require something along the bottom to fasten the sheets to. I usually design with angle. Although the cost is minimal when taken as part of the whole, it is indeed more expensive than no attachment at all.

Personally I would pay more or do without. No way would I ever choose the trough method myself.
