Just watched the 4shorts video of "In a Town This Size" and it really is terrific.
Music appropriate and it captures the vision of a coastal village in NL.

Thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed it. The song was kind of appropriate

Well I thought I had my yard work completed for this year BUT I got a call from a buddy of mine asking me if I wanted some free fill next week so I said SURE. The problem is now I have a lot of brush that I need to knock down and it's like a jungle there so I went out and bought a new Stihl FS250 and put a cutting blade on it and all I can say is WOW. This thing can really cut through the brush.
Here's a few photos if anyone's interested.

4shorts; Are you already in a jacket? Your summer sure was short! Remind me, if I ever end up coming that way, to make sure it is in July, so I can be there during y'all's heat wave!

Neat pics! Thanks for posting! Reminds me, I have to have the chainsaw ready to use next month, so that I can get busy cutting some trees and brush.

4shorts; how well did that blade in photo 5 work on thinner stuff. Say the thickness of your finger. Some years ago I tried a blade on a Jonsered brushcutter and I think I could have done better if I had used my teeth (I still have my own teeth :)) The 4 teeth on this blade only protruded about 2 inches from the disc and the saplings would just spring out of the way. Back in July I was thinking about having another go at it and buying a blade similar the the one in your photo. Did it do a good job or did it need a bit of coaxing??

We have used both the three pointed type and the type that looks like someone cut 4 half moons out of a square. Both work well, the three pointed type works better on thin stuff (under 1"), the 4 pointed one works better on thicker stuff.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed seeing the photos. It was actually hot at 20c this evening but I had to have the hoodie on because of the thorns and flying chips coming from the Stihl. I wanted to leave this work for another month or two but I want that free fill next week

Jim I found the three blade worked great on the small stuff. Put the thing at wide open throttle and went at it. For the thicker stuff I have the multi tooth blade and they say it can nibble through a 5" tree.

I don't have the four blade but like you I found the three blade worked exceptionally well.

Just shy of 100k views for the thread! This is DEFINITELY one of the best discussions on TBN by far, and it continues to keep me coming back to the site daily to see what you've been up to. Thanks again for sharing all your work - I very much appreciate it.

If the L60 I've been looking at does work out, I'm sure I'll be inspired to mod it based on all the hard work you've done to yours. Plus I have a great first project in mind for it already - using it to clear some land and install a new ShelterLogic storage shed for it. (BTW, how is yours holding up and working out for your L5740? Did you just go with the Shelercoat or the ShelerTech SP series - I couldn't tell from your video? Thanks!)

I have the little brother of the FS250 (no handle bars!) with string and the three blade. Yes another amazing little machine. Stihl not as much fun as a BX though! :D

No no. Thank YOU and all the others who've shown interest in this thread. It's great to know you've enjoyed seeing it and I appreciate everyone's comments that's been made here (well almost everyone's ) I kept the thread going posting just a few of the things we are doing with our land that's tractor related so I hope more people are enjoying the look as well.

Oh man I hope you get that L60. Fine looking machine. Please post if you do get it. If my 5740 had more than 140 hours on it I'd consider getting the L60 series.

The ShelterLogic has been great. It's been there for two years. Been through 2 tropical storms and no less than 10 winter storms and it haven't budged and no fading and no signs of wear. One of the best things I bought in years. I went and dug up some photos for your viewing pleasure. Ill get an updated photo today on the shelter after being up for two years. Hope it helps. Thanks for posting.

See. Two great minds think alike  we have a BX25D and basically the same trimmer. That's pretty cool
