Bury wire pair to locate water line?

I try to trench in a straight line whenever possible and identify sections (i.e.: pole to pole). Perhaps markers at both sides of your garden could be used to determine the line.

No kidding! That's the cheapest and easiest. I put a patio block flush with the ground in my lawn on both sides of my driveway where an irrigation line crosses so I know where to find it if needed. I put a patio block flush with the ground over my septic tank so I know where to find it. And over my washing machine leach field. And at both ends of a water line out to the garden, and at the turns. Its easy, cheap and unobtrusive. You could use 4x4 posts on each side of your garden. Hang a birdhouse on it.

Heheheheheheeee, okay boys, this'll work: cut two 18"-24" pieces of about #12 or so copper wire. Bend into L shape, lightly hold short end of L in each hand parallel, holding hands about 18" apart while walking along - the wires will turn in toward each other when you pass over ye buried pipe. I know, some of y'all boys are going to go into all kinds of scientific mess - hey, this just works. If you do it right, it works.

Many do this and believe it works but I'm not a believer in witching and in no way would trust it for locating. That's just my take on it.

Thanks, 2lane, I have the knack for it too, but I just thought it would work for anybody. Yep, it can't distinguish between lines, water, elect., etc., but they sure turn in me old hands. I'm glad you chimed in here. Okay y'all skeptic unbelievers, ye got to give it a try.

I also have hits that I can only figure to be underground water, due to their location near the creek. Yeah, it's not very specific, but it does work for me. Someone told me that to have the "knack", you had to have American Indian heritage, Jewish heritage or a specific Irish lineage. Good story. I have yet to find a cache of Jesse James' gold, though. :)

You bet it works; onliest thing, not everyone has the knack. I have it; I can locate the sewer line in my back yard, and it's about 12 feet deep. It also finds overhead electric lines too; so you have to watch where you are. It won't differentiate between sewer lines, water lines or buried electric lines. I use steel clothes line wire; a green withching stick works for me too.

Well then, you two can earn yourselves $1,000,000 prize if you can prove it.

Now wait just a minute! Isn't that pic supposed to contain a human, or is it only invisible aliens that can do the wire trick?

I used to do it when I was a kid on the farm. We used an apple branch mainly, that was in a "V" shape. We used what ever was handy, willow branch or just about any branch in a V shape and 2 to 3 feet long. Wire worked good for some people but I had better luck with tree branches.

It's not a paranormal phenomenon, no more than is static electricity. I have no desire to dabble in the paranormal, nor will I for a couple of reasons. If I believe there was anything "paranormal" about this, e.g., in the nature of ouigi boards, I would not, under any circumstances indulge. I believe it is a natural phenomenon that can be exhibited under certain circumstances. I'm much like Voltaire; I think, therefore I exist, in this case I have experienced it and know it works.

That $1,000,000 prize is open to divining rods, water witchers, whatever you want to call them. Every study done on it concludes it is just as accurate as blind luck. But really, I'd love to see someone on TBN win that prize. I say you guys go for it. :)

Moss, both you and that ridiculous link article are totally missing what I said. I did not say I can tell ye where to dig a well. I said I can tell ye where a water line, electric line, cable line, etc. are located. There's no so called divining going on. This is really simple - just go try it.

And knucklehaid who mentioned the aliens, I haven't figured out how to make me iPad with its camera levitate in the air so I can include meself in the photo. Sheesh, bunch of doubters here I tell ye.
