Bury wire pair to locate water line?

Moss, both you and that ridiculous link article are totally missing what I said. I did not say I can tell ye where to dig a well. I said I can tell ye where a water line, electric line, cable line, etc. are located. There's no so called divining going on. This is really simple - just go try it.

And knucklehaid who mentioned the aliens, I haven't figured out how to make me iPad with its camera levitate in the air so I can include meself in the photo. Sheesh, bunch of doubters here I tell ye.

Ah, that's MR. Knucklehead to you; and while I'm at it let me explain the point of emoticons- they are for clarifying things like when one is joking. Seriously thought, have you heard of a second person to take a picture while you give evidence of locating your conduit to Uranus?! In the meantime we're supposed to take it on faith that you found your wires with two bent wires left on a slab of concrete? Ok. Next act.

Oh me, y'all boys still ain't gettin' it. Sorry, Coyote, I should have used a smilie or something, no offense meant.

But, ye ain't thinking right about me wires. That is just a pic of wires I had laying handy that I used, and even they worked. Now, the OP obviously won't need me help, seems he's just laying his straight and using permanent markers so he can easily find them in future. But, if anybody needs to find water pipes from drain or supply lines or electrical buried lines, the two bent copper wires will turn inward when held in ye hands loosely while walking over where lines are buried. Y'all boys need to simply give it a try, ye might be surprised.

Oh, I've been surprised by many things in my life but never anything that cannot be explained and repeated in a controlled test.

Really, if you can do it, why don't you try to claim that million dollar prize? It can't hurt to try.

About 40 years ago I traced a romex pair that had been buried. I disconnected it at both ends, tied both wires together at one end and wired the other end to a 12v relay and battery up to make the relay buzz. Then I followed the wire with a portable AM radio. Worked great, tho I don't recall how deep it was.

Many years ago I was in the construction trade and we were working inside a huge, new building, I think maybe it was the beginning of a John Deere plant or something like that. For some reason a couple of us were discussing dowsing during lunch and I gave it a try inside this very large building with a concrete floor.

I picked up a couple pieces of stiff wire, ~ 24" - 36" long as I recall (maybe they were acoustic ceiling track hangers), bent them into a 90 degree at one end for a hand hold and walked around with one loosely held in each hand, close to my body, directly in front of me. The wires/hangers would move on their own as I was walking around the building and I seem to recall them actually crossing each other at least once. I do not recall how often they moved or how far they rotated, in general.

I have no clue what they were indicating, but do know they moved on their own. I also can't explain the effect as I would think identical wires in this scenario would move parallel to each other instead of crossing each other. I have also heard that not everybody can do this. I might have to try this at home this weekend as I know my property and can see if there is an effect of some type I can discern.

I bet a lot of folks will be trying this out soon :)

"Knuckle head" Ha, ha. Have not heard that term in years. Chuckle, chuckle. My dad's favorite expression.

There is foil tape you can bury near the surface of the trench, to locate with metal detector. The 2 bent wires works for me, I've found many buried pipes using them. Mike Holmes did it on one of his shows recently.

The wires moved cause you tipped your hand while walking and don't realize your doing it. It can be a breeze, slight hand movement or even knowing a line is there and deliberately tilt to get them to move to help yourself believe. lol It does not work.
