Paul - I don't know what you have for a generator connection - pony panel / sub panel / backfeed (illegal here) etc - but my Hydro company allows the use of a product called "Generlink", which is an adaptor that goes onto the meter that accepts a special plug from a portable generator. It is essentially a transfer switch right at the meter that allows the use of any circuit in your home, recognizing the wattage limit is about 7K from the gennie. Since I put it in 2 years ago, my gennie has run a grand total of 4 hours on it, lol!!

I'm very interested in seeing the box you make for your unit...thanks for sharing your work with everyone.

Hum. Don't have anything like that on our poles. We usually just add another lock out panel next to the house panel. I like your way though. My buddy who is an electrician is always trying to do something for me so I'll let him do that part. Well you know how it is. Once you prepair for a disaster it will never happen
I've checked everywhere for the right box to run the generator in and there's no such beast so stay tuned. I'm going to fabricate it. Thanks for the info and commenting.

I have the same exact Honda generator. I bought it a 1.5 years ago after we lost power for an entire week. Ironically, I haven't lost power since! :)

Also, the wireless remote works really great - the only trouble I ran into was installing it. While it's easy to install, Honda had incorrectly packaged the wrong instructions with ALL of their initial kits so it left me scratching my head for a bit trying to figure it out. Took a call to tech support to finally get a hold of the correct directions, otherwise, it was simple to install. (They even sent me a Honda hat in the mail reporting this issue to them!)

Very interested to see what you come up with for a shelter. I looked at doing something a while back, but never followed through with it.

Finally, I ended up going with the L4760 - just waiting on everything to arrive at the dealer and get setup. Should be a fun first project using it to install the ShelterLogic.

Nothing worst than bad instructions  Glad you got it worked out. I picked up my remote today and it only took ten minutes to install it (right instructions thanks to you :D) I did discover I had to leave the key in the ON position for it to work but it works well.

Seeing you have the same generator I wanted to show you these cool little lights that I found at Princess Auto. They are LED and stick on with a built in battery. Great when your fumbling around in the dark and needing some light. Here's a few pics. They could be used for basically anything and for less than $3.00 it was a nice find.
Congrats on the tractor. Pictures? I love pictures ;)
Thanks for posting.

Sorry about the picture quality folks. Taken with the iPhone

4hshorts... I am looking forward to your enclosure. I want to do the same for my Honda 3K... I have it on a mechanical interlock at the main service panel. I assume you will make it more or less standalone or as an appendage to the house? Also curious as to how it will be ventilated but secure? :confused3:

Thanks. They look really nice up close. Wifey did a set for my buddies custom truck and loved them. She did two more tonight for me and a custom bunch tomorrow. Adding the clear gives them an expensive durable look.

Yup I'm doing it just for the house as a back up system. The inclosure will be built out of 1/8th and 1/4 steel plate. It will be very secure with a custom cooling system, it will put the fear of God in some and other parts of it will make some laugh but it will be very functional and perfect for our needs ;)

Thank you sir. Well our friends tell us that one is as bad as the other so we are very capable people. She just did a few more for upcoming projects.
