To much tractor?

TejasMike,

When you get the 20 acres, you may find that a older(1950s-1960s) tractor to be a perfect compliment as a second tractor, saving you thousands of dollars. I would add a second older tractor before upsizing to one bigger tractor.

That's the plan!

Can NEVER have TOO much Tractor !!!!
Maybe the right answer is 2 a big and a small !!

I agree with others. I have 20 more HP than I would have bought but the FIL bought the tractor new and all wanted it to stay in the family. We have some hilly land and I expect this larger tractor has saved me more than once. I can drop one wheel off in a good side hole/wash out and keep going vs being hung. Now a 200 HP tractor when only 30 HP is required would be TOO MUCH TRACTOR in my view. :)

Congratulations on your purchase. I think you made the right decision for your needs.

It sounds like you made an informed and appropriate choice. Plus, you have a plan for when your needs change.

"Good on ya", as the saying goes.

I think the plan is sound. It is always preferable to have 2 or more smaller tractors rather one large one. That works well for limiting hook and unhook situations AND just in case you get one stuck in the mud, you can use the other to pull it out with saving wrecker bill or bothering a neighbor to come pull you out or worse still jury rigging with boards and posts with jacks and shovels to try to dig your way out.

Congrats on the new tractor. You're wise to stay away from used equipment that has had rough use.

Congrats on the new tractor! Wile 200 hours is nothing for those of us who take care of and maintain our tractors it can be almost the life of the tractor if it was abused. Sounds like you made a good choice.

I didn't.

It looked like a HARD 200 hours.

I ended up getting a new B2320. It's perfect for our place now. When we build the new house part of the deal is I get a new big"er" tractor.

Having a smaller B and a larger work tractor at the new place isn't a bad deal.

Price wise I ended up the same with the new B2320 vs the used L2800.

Congrats! Small one now, large one later. Doesn't get much better than that!

probably smart move. when the dust settles & needs (or is it wants?) grow, spring for the "bigger" tractor. but bigger if you decide than L2800....i can't imagine anyone thinking that model is too big. mx 5100 would be a good starting pt. best w/your new purchase!
