Neighbor spying on neighbor; doesn't sound like the America I used to know.

Spying? Absolutely. That is one of the points I made when I spoke before the county planning commission and Board of Supervisors on six occasions about this. I said this encouragement of citizens spying on each other was what I call "encouraging a 'rat' system," and not the way you "build community" in a locality. But, I guess "building community" is not what they really want to do--they'd rather build their own power base at the government courthouse complex.

And, by the way, to the person who commented that the $1,350 campground permit fee wasn't so bad---this is on TOP of the annual thousands of dollars we pay EVERY YEAR for the property taxes, for the priviledge of owning the land.

This has become a thread about trash, when in fact it started with not being "permitted" to camp on your own land, when no mess was involved.

Would anyone want to suggest that native Americans lived a "trashy" lifestyle ?

Do you think that having a couple of tipis (without trash) on the neighboring property would hurt your real estate value ?

Unless I am mistaken, I recall seeing Tipis on the grounds of the Badlands National Park.

Granted, the OP was discussing a camper of some sort, which would not have the aesthetic of a tipi, but still does not suggest that the place is a mess. If one wanted to draw that conclusion, then apparently every RV park ever developed would be a mess with just a single trailer hooked up ?

Yes, in fact one of the comments the inspector made, he thought that proved someone was living there, was that my buddy was "even keeping the grass cut around the small area around the camper, just like some one was living there." I said, "let me get this straight: you are holding it against us that he is keeping the place neat?!"

Wasn't it ancient Rome that originally rolled that strategy out in a big way ?

If it enabled the Romans to take over all the known world, I can see why the modern day overlords stick with this time proven strategy !

I can do on my land as i please,..having campers or planting a mobile is no problem either
My property taxes are just under $1200 a year for my entire 1800 acre ranch
