BTW - My brush hog makes a whirring noise, not a scraping noise. A scraping noise could indicate some type of problem. I'd have that looked at before use.

Agreed, the only time there should be any odd clanks, shakes, or scrapes is when the PTO is first engaged. As the center starts spinning the blades will "smack" back, but within a few rotations the blades should extend from the centrifugal forces, at that point it should be buttery smooth. Engaging the PTO at low RPMs and then increasing the PTO speed reduces a lot of the noise and vibration.

Nice. The B2320 is a sweet machine.:thumbsup: Moth balls are supposed to repel mice and snakes.

I fully agree with Sysop, especially his last sentence. Of course the opposite procedure should be employed when shutting it down. You may have been very unlucky and picked up a bit of wire during your first use. I am constantly amazed at how much old wire is hiding in any paddock! At times it seems like there's a small fortune in scrap metal laying in wait. :laughing:

I agree with everyone else that the cutter should be quiet when running. I have the exact same set up, B2320 and RCR1548, and it just whirls, no scraping. If its not the blades or anything wrapped around them it might be the friction clutch. I would definitely have the dealer take a listen.

Thanks for the advice guys.
The dealer came by and picked it back up yesterday. Looks like something's hinky in the gearbox on the mower so try are replacing the whole setup.
Frustrating but luckily there's not a lot of grass to be mowed right now.
The pirahna bar should be here tomorrow as well
