Great work, 4shorts! I hope it does prevent your next power outage!

I'm wondering about the fender source as well, for the BX. They look great in that machine!

When I did the fender mod I almost didn't post it because I thought it was a useless mod BUT they have grown on me now and I do like them. I think they look like they belong. Here's a few photo's that should help you out. I don't remember where I got them. I think they were around $35. each. I got them online but maybe the Deere dealer can supply them. You'll have to make your own brackets for them to fit.

I hear you, we put in a whole house generator a few years ago and have only lost power a few times but not for very long.
Just for the piece of mind its worth it.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, we put one in (complete with an automatic transfer switch because we have a hot tub and it is a 4-season cottage up North), and the power goes out a lot. So, it has saved our bacon on several occasions!

So true guys on the piece of mind. Just a few lights the furnace and a way to warm up a little food will be nice.

Thanks for the compliment. Here's a few pics and what I through together.

Took over 60 hours to complete but it should last a lifetime and then some.
Here's some of the features I built into it.

- Built out of 1/8th and 1/4 steel plating. Complete system weighs 1500 lbs.
- Custom machined hinges with grease nipples.
- Built in security system.
- Canarm fan for system cooling
- Double stainless steel latches both coded for the one key.
- Hydraulic struts to keep lid open.
- Fold down front section that acts as a loading ramp for the generator.
- Special locking system in floor to hold generator in place.
- Custom exhaust system with top flapper.
- Wireless remote start added.
- Snap-On L.E.D. light added.
- Floor mat that chemical resistant.
- All openings have restricters added to keep critters out.
- Sand basted to remove mill-scale, epoxy primed and painted.
- Custom graphics by Kathy (Wifey)
- G.P.S. Tracking on generator.

Very quiet operation. Video will be on our YouTube channel tomorrow.

Simply amazing! The quality is absolutely superb! That is definitely one of the nicest shelter I've ever seen for generator. Again, the quality of your work never ceases to impress me.

One question though, what do you mean by G.P.S. Tracking on the generator? Do you mean like a "LoJack" type of tracking module for your generator? (that is if they can break into the fortress of a shelter first! )

Thanks!

and, like ericdube, i'm curious about the GPS tracking. i've seen quite a few asset tagging services around but the subscription rates are relatively high. also wondering how these units deal with the heat/vibration of the genset.

would like to know what system you used, and if there are services with lower annual fees for assets which the owners rarely (hopefully never) actually track. i don't need regular updates, speed, etc... i just want to know if something has moved, and if so, where it has gone. gen's seem like a convenient place to keep tags, since they're pretty likely to have power available ;-)

Thanks guys. Glad you like the gen shelter. With some of the storms we've been getting I'm sure it's well protected now. As for the G.P.S tracking. That's looked after by my buddies company that also looks after the other security features we have here. Before I give away any info on that I'll ask him what I can say online if you know what I mean ;) He assures me its the best that's out there but time will tell then again I hope I never need to know

Tonight I start a new lighting mod on the 5740. If there's any interest in that mod I'll post photos. If there's not I'll just do the video later on.

Always interested in seeing lighting mods...

Ok I gotta ask. Is theft a major issue up there? For the most part I'm not worried about much theft in my neighborhood at all. But you have a shelter that would require substantial equipment to break into or move. But then you've gone beyond that with a siren and then the ultimate step of the gps tracker. Crap, if they have the gonads to still take it off site, they must need it a whole lot more than I would.

I like the gen shelter also. My generator is really loud but I don't really have a great spot for a shed for it.

I'm sorry to say in the long run the front fenders won't work out for your BX. Its like getting a transplant from the wrong kind of blood type. Your Kubota will reject them because they are Deere and they will rot and fall off.
