Do they have fuel economy numbers?

Not yet. Testers have been reporting 700 miles per tank, or about 27 mpg.... average.... which is pretty incredible.

Don't worry, there is a (Canadian) Senate committee looking into the cross-border price differences.

Boy, I dunno about a 3.0L displacement engine @ 500 ft-lbs torque. Seems awfully small to me. I just don't think the Europeans understand the N.A. market (vice versa as well).

A 4.0-5.0L seems much more in line with a 500 ft-lb peak torque rating.

Hmmm......funny Cummins is doing just that for Nissan!

Looking at the number of European cars over here they seem to know a little about the market. :)

Um, last I checked a 5,500 lb truck weighs a little more than a VW Jetta?

The Euros are pretty good at getting torque out of smaller (and small) diesels - just ask any Jetta/Golf driver.

When the older version of that 3.0 became available in the Cherokee, the only way you could get a better factory tow rating was to spec Chrysler's largest gas V8.

So I don't disbelieve that Tq # on the new engine..... the real test will be generating that Tq for 500k miles in the real world though.

I'm happy to see this size of engine being marketed. The big 3 (and more now) have the 10,000+++ lb towing market well populated already with large (in terms of Light Truck) factory Torque monster diesel engines.

I think it was one of the recent factory presentations that pointed out that this new 3L engine beats the Tq output of the original Cummins engine that went into the Ram. Young guys today would be bored with that original Cummins engine, but many old guys like me would gladly still drive one till I'm ready to hang up the keys for the last time.

I hope this engine serves Chrysler, and more importantly, their new diesel customers well.
