Thx everyone. I have power to the pump house but it's 220v, not 110. House is only 8ft away so I could probably run another dedicated line underground.

I'll look into that well house Hester.

Put in a small breaker panel. Feed the 220 to it then feed 220 to pump though breaker and 110 where ever you want it. Basically you are just adding a sub panel in that building. Best and safest way but not cheapest.

Again, not if it doesnt have a neutral..

Midniteoyl is right...if theres no neutral you cant get 110 even out of a 220 panel. the OP has stated that theres no neutral pulled.

You are right I missed the part where it was run without a neutral. If it was run in conduit pull a neutral in and hook up properly. Or else you need to bring 110 out of home panel in order to do it right.

Just a thought. When I ran water into my new building, a friend suggested two lines. Then a thermostat with a low power circulating pump. Mind you, my pump house is underground. I have the lines in, but have never finished the project to see if the idea works. I just hate heating the great outdoors.

You all are OVER THINKING IT, get two of the cheap ceramic light bulb holders and wire them in series tie them across the line and use two light bulbs of same wattage, (suggest 2ea 40 watt) 110volts will dissipate across each bulb... IF one blows both will go out so you need to know for sure one is working.

2nd option is to get 4 of the cheap "night lights," wire them in pairs in series. So "two sets" of 2 bulbs so if one set bulb burns out then 2nd set is still going. these bulbs are 7 watts each so that would be about 42 watts of heat inside a small box would be plenty most likely.

If you have OLD set of X-MAS lights you can do the same using them but those are usually only like 2 watt max bulbs.

NOTE: Series Wiring is Line (1st HOT Wire comes into Base#1 Line thru bulb and then the Neutral line of the base #1 out (into) Neutral line of Base #2, thru Bulb #2 and base #2 Line ties to the OTHER HOT line on the pump switch.)

Yep 3 w/ground. Is a 2 wire with ground even legal nowadays?

One thing that has always bugged me. Why do people even use well/pit houses? Put the pressure tank and all pump controls in a heated space to begin with. Doesn't ake much room for the tank and pressure switch and everything is right there for easy maintenance. I can see a well house if using a 'top of the well' pump but not with submersibles. I maintained my folks systems (2 different residences and was the unpaid maintenance man on a community well. Cussed every time I had to get at the pump/tank in all of them...of course the community well had to be that way but the others didn't.

The topper was when my neighbor drilled a new well. Put it right next to an outbuilding, installed tank and switchwork in the outbuilding and then spent lots of money making that room well insulated with a heater. Odd thing was that he went to the trouble of doing that to replace a small pressure tank THAT WAS ALREADY IN HIS BASEMENT!.
