that's my point. not uncommon to see 240 in and 120 internally in use..

Not supposed to go to the same bus bar in some electrical panels. Neutrals should their own insulated bus bar isolated from the ground bus bar.

Dryers are 240v, BUT, are 120v internally.. one leg feeds the coils, the other the motor, lights, timers, etc.. Same with most stoves. Internal splitting of 240v in appliances is legal, but should follow UL and CSA guidelines for safety.

Wrong. Heating elements are 240V and supplied from both lines. Timer circuit are 120V and are power from one line and neutral.

I would wire two 60 watt bulbs in series to compensate for the voltage ,,, therefore 240 volt lamp

Something I've never understood, why are there so many different types of 240v plugs?

I mentioned this prior in page 2 I think, no one seems to listen much tho lol.... simple problem solved long ago but still exploring options I guess lol.

They can even install a simple thermostat for the bulbs so they only run below freezing as long as the stat is rated for the power of the bulb in series. I would not suggest 60 watt bulbs tho as that is 120 watts across the 240 lines and would be a good bit of heat in small space, 40 would be good for it and you can spread the two bulbs out around each side or run 4 bulbs (two sets of 20 watts so back up heating element and spread heat even farther out.) Running the small snap action freeze protection thermostats on both or one set would provide a good choice.
Here is one that can be plugged into a 115vac outlet so bulbs are off at 35F. Amazon.com: Farm Innovators TC-3 Cold Weather Thermo Cube Thermostatically Controlled Outlet - On at 35-Degrees/Off at 45-Degrees: Patio, Lawn & Garden

Not the ones I have had and worked on. Granted, I haven't had an electric dryer in 20 years.. and they were cheap used units, so even older. But, I can see 240v coils and still splitting off 120v.. Again though, that's internal to an appliance, NOT at a sub panel or receptacle.

all driers wired in past 10 years have had a neutral wired to them - 4 wire installations.

He had made it sound like the heaters were one of the lines to neutral. The bathe motor/timer on the other line to neutral

Why not just put the pump & tank in a dry well beside the well & use ground heat? Then put in an outside tap to drain cabin plumbing. Just needs to be sealed because moving air is what causes freezing in pipes. This has been done up here in the north for quite a while.
