Odd one today. A neighbor was unloading a 34 chev truck in the alley. They got it off the trailer but with 2 flat front tires (think rags) on the front it could not be moved.

Pushing it with the BX2200 FEL did not work. Lifting the front end of the truck caused the back of the tractor to lift.

I backed up to it and hooked the front bumper with the 3pt fitted with pat's hooks. I raised the 3pt as far as it was willing to go which took enough weight off the front end and I was able to move the truck without any trouble.

I had to fill the Hydraulic Oil Tank on the dozer after draining it to replace some lines. It takes two 5 gallon pails. I lift a 5 gallon pails in the bucket then siphon the oil down into the dozer tank. Much easier than trying to pour from a full pail and the best part is there is no mess to clean up. I have one of those simple little siphon hoses with the weighted check valve on the bottom. You just stick the valve end in the bucket and shake it up and down a few times until the tube fills and the flow starts. It's a little slow but gives me a chance to go get some coffee.

Ha, learned something today, I didn't think hydraulic fluid would siphon.. I figured it was too viscous. cool.

Yep, my wife and I have been working on it nights and weekends since June. Hoping to have it closed up in the next couple weeks.

That's great. My wife and I did the same thing by our selves 13 years ago. Our place is a lot smaller though. We started spring of 2000 and had it externally framed and weather tight by christmas. In Aug 2001 we moved into the unfinished basement with a hot plate, toaster over, microwave, basement sink, and dorm room mini fridge for a kitchen. A bed and a table with a couple chairs for the rest. We slowly moved upstairs one room at a time as we finished them. Took us about 5 years total.

I sincerely hope you enjoy building and living in your new place as much as we have ours.

So far it's been a great expierience. We're young and ambitious and so far we haven't killed each other! We're lucky enough to be doing this next door to the in-laws so we don't have to live I the basement. Finished space in the new place will be ~1400 sq ft.

Did my annual roadside ditch and bank mowing today. I wait until fall when all the leaves are off the brush and the frost has gotten to the ferns and wild flowers so I can see all the obstacles easier. Plus my wife gets mad if I mow to many wild flowers that are still flourishing.

Installed some scrapped granite curbing I acquired, at a neighbor's house. Created a garden spot for them, and used to 'extra' pieces as a nice little bench for them. 2 stone bench.JPGcurbed garden.JPG

Today's seat time.........for my 8yo son. He's having a good time on the new (to us) T1400 and the accessory/carry rack that I built last night. He keeps a hammer, vise grips, and three straps in the basket. Seems that I'm going to be getting more exercise following him to load/unload and the B3200 is also going to get more garage time! ;) Here he's moving some 6x6 ends that were left over from the porch remodel.

Very cool! Time to hide the B3200 keys . ;)

Agreed. That kid looks like he has the tractor "fever".
You are a lucky man.

Thanks guys. He's had tractor fever for a long time now and has known the loader functions since he was three. To drive my BX he had to have our daughter sit on the seat while he sat in front of her and used the pedals. On the B3200 he straps two short pieces of 2x4 to the forward pedal, slides the seat up and can drive it alone (but I'm close at the side to supervise). He's even moved some gravel for me and is learning how to blade it smooth. But now the T1400 is "his" tractor and wants to do the work with it.

Today I put 5 hours on my tractor mainly clearing out around a creek, with a chainsaw and a tractor I can do about anything. I used a 100 ft 1 1/2 inch rope and pulled 1 ft thick trees down, then cut it at the base. This tiny ls ceases to amaze me, 38 HP of power:)

No sure this fits here, but I'll post and take the chance.

Last weekend we had two nice fall days. The weather was crisp, and the sun felt good. My wife offered to help me gather wood, as bad weather was forecast for Monday. I usually work alone, but took up her offer. This is the first time she has driven my L4240. She loved it. We moved a couple of cords of wood. I loved it, too. I've included a picture of a happy new tractor operator. Mattie (11:3:13).JPG

The week before, I took the tractor and my wood splitter to a new neighbor's house. We cut trees and split wood all weekend. By "we" I meant my neighbor, his wife, and three kids. (My wife was sick that weekend.) I was totally impressed by my neighbor and his family. My neighbor and I cut trees in the morning and early afternoon of the first day. Then, he used his mall to hand split wood while his wife and kids and I used my hydraulic splitter to split other wood. The kids, aged 8, 6, and 4 (two girls and a boy in the middle) carried split logs over to the woodpile. They worked steadily all day and obviously enjoyed the team activity. So did I.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the pleasure on my wife's face as she learned to handle our (now her's?) tractor. I was thrilled to see how my neighbors kids took pride in their participation and how seriously they took their efforts. I had forgotten how important and how valuable working together could be.
