There is 28 - 6x6x8 cedar logs in this bundle. I really did not think my DK would lift it, but it did(and no it didn't like it) and that is as high as I could go. I weighed a couple of the logs after I took this shot....One was 90, the other was almost 100, so if you average these out at even 90lbs ea, you get 2,520 and the forks weigh another 350 lbs. So according to the spec's this can't happen...inmo these loaders are a BEAST:thumbsup:

1800 is a bit low for that tractor if you are doing real work. Consider 2000 as a minimum when you are trying to get things done. The HST in med will eat up your power quickly if you are in mud or whatnot.

For those coming from gear or shuttle they are used to operating at low rpms. At 1800 my tractor feels like a dog still chained to his house, 2K is not much better. Running at the max rpm for a hst is completely proper, and won't hurt a thing....try it:)

The latest few posts are convincing me I most likely have no problems. However, I am now committed to building the inline hydraulic tester. Discount Hydraulic Hoses sent the wrong T-fitting yesterday and I ordered the wrong couplings for the FEL valve located under the right side of the operators station.

The female coupling is marked: Kwan Kwang 13 PT3/8. Can anyone identify what standard type this is so I can order 3 sets?

Thanks.

Yeah, I rearranged them a little them to look like this:) :

I will also mention that when my head gasket went under warranty, I got a "new" 50 horse Mahindra as a loaner for a week. I did not find that the Mahindra loader was any more powerful than the on on my DK, but the tractor and loader were physically larger.

sdef, yes I am also curious as to what you will find ref the pressure readings. I think all of us would like to have a hyd gauge hanging on the shop wall.

Please don't take this the wrong way, others have said the same thing, but "how do you stall the engine of a HST equipped tractor?" I have never done it. And would not know how to make it stall. The only thing I can think of is the Hydrostats relief valve was set very high? How can you possibly stall the engine? I have run up against immovable objects many times, One of two things happen, if in low range, the tires will spin, sometimes all 4.. or if in Med or High, they will either spin a bit and/or the relief valve will open on the hydro, and it will just "whine" and not move.. But in neither case has the engine died. It will drop RPM of course as it loads, but unless you were at such a low RPM that it dropped below where it could sustain rotary motion?.. Combination of low RPM, and very high hydrostat relief valve setting? Someone please 'splain this to me, I have been meaning to ask about it for a long time.

Easy to do. Did it about three times yesterday. Just keep the RPMs in a "comfortable range" like 1800 and then push hard against a tree. It will stall occasionally. It happens to me most often when I am intending just to pick up brush with the grapple and suddenly get the urge to knock a tree down without remembering to increase RPM. I have also stalled using a bush hog in thick brush (again at 1800-2000).

Man that is a lot of wood!

But just think- this is the easy part. The follow on work is not something I want to be associated with.

maybe you are just pushing too hard on the HST pedal when you go into a pile of dirt. (same goes for Islandtractor)
try it again another way...push hard until you reach the pile, then remove 75% of your pedal push, that should letthe tractor breath while pushing in Medium range and working the FEL.
I never stalled it but on occasion when I'm trying to makes it work beyond its limit (and too fast) the RPM drop a lot and I let go the HST pedal to let it recover.

Yes, that is part of it. In my case I was picking up brush and just made sudden decisions to push against a tree. However, I have also stalled when mowing or doing other tasks. My point is that it ain't that hard to do.
