Ahh, on the 3pt, I missed that the first time. I know from trying to lift a pallet full of firewood with my CK30 that a BX just wouldn't have enough lift on the FEL to do it. It would have been about the same as the Bobcat you had and just isn't strong enough to do it. I have to ask why you'd use the BX when it would be so much easier (and warmer!) to use the FEL on the L4240?

The BX is only supposed to lift 660lbs@ 24" on the 3PH. I used the Bobcat to move some pallets on the FEL and 3PH. I never had any problems lifting the pallets. I prefer to use the L4240 the 3PH pallet mover to move the pallets. With the QH I don't even have to get out of the tractor to hook up to the rear forks. Sometimes the L4240 get blocked in the garage and I have to use the BX.

A repurposed dog kennel, it was here when we purchased the place and have no use for it. The wife only has a little yapper dog that stays inside all the time. Holds around 7 full cords, burned about 12 cords last year. This year added a pellet stove and a new epa wood stove. The problem is getting the heat to the rest of the house. I will have to replace the wood furnace someday with something more efficient.

I have been down that road. Most EPA stoves heat with convection heat not radiant heat like the pre EPA stoves. You probably need a blower and add some floor registers so the air can circulate.

I'm with 330T. When I have the PTO splitter on, I drop a pallet next to me while I'm splitting & stack it as I split. When it's full, I spin around and fork it to the barn, then later move it up here to the house. Next year I will build a woodshed for setting wood in two pallets deep and about 50' long so everything stays dry. I have about 15 or 16 of these & could use another 10 or so.

It's probably worth mentioning the difference between a face cord and a full cord. Different people have different names for them including face core, stove cord, bush cord etc.

A full cord of wood means you have tightly stacked wood measuring 4' high, 8' long and 4' deep. A face is technically any stack 4' high, 8' long by any depth but it is supposed to be 16" deep if you're buying firewood so that 3 face cords equal 1 full cord.

Burning 12 full cords of wood would be a full time job and you'd need about 3 wood stove going 24/7 since that is 36 face cord. Put another way, it would take 3 full tri-axle dump truck loads to transport 12 full cords of wood.

There's actually a lot of discussion on this topic here on TBN.

Thank you.. I will give them a call.

You're welcome. If you do get some, the secret is to fill them completely full. You'll need to build a metal frame like the one they have on their website. My mistake was to be too cheep and not add enough vertical bars on each side. When you're throwing wood it, it can push out between the bars and be a PITA. It's worth the extra couple bucks for a couple extra pieces of steel.

I just split it and throw it into the loader and stack it. I'm going to build a wood shed but my land is not very flat and I'd like to be able to drive into it without hitting the ROPS.

That is 12 FULL cords I went through last year, I buy a grapple load 10 full cord loads from a local logger $70 a cord, then cut and split myself. I do have forty acres but it is mostly poplar and pine, I do burn some of it.

Ya, it is pretty much a full time job, wife would feed it during the day, me nights and week ends. After two years of heating with nothing but wood was looking for other options. The new wood stove will be in the new addition we added this summer. I hope to have the wood stove installed by the end of the month. I added the pellet stove for the shoulder seasons and when we travel to the cities for a few days over the holidays.

This all went in one wood furnace, an old northern leader which is no longer made. I see you are from Ontario, do you burn wood full time? Around here 7 to 10 full cords is pretty much average, more for people that run the old smoke dragon boilers this is for full time wood burners. Last year was bad because spring just would not come.

I am utterly amazed with the amount of wood you all store, cut and use. Dam I'm glad I live in South GA. One stack of wood 5 ft high & 8 ft long last me all winter. If you can call that a winter.
