First off - my first post here, and a big thanks to all contributors here who influenced my purchase and provided input about maintenance.

I just saw a nail sticking into the rear tire and liquid slowly coming out. The tire is not flat, but I can notice that it's lower than the other one. Since I bought the tractor used, I have no idea what's inside the tire. Is there a way to tell if there's a tube inside? My plan is to pull out the nail and repair with a tire plug kit for cars and truck tires. Will I screw up something if too much liquid has leaked out? Will this work at all if there is a tube inside the tire? I don't have any way of weighing each tire to make sure they are equally ballasted - hopefully this is not a big deal? If my plan is not feasible, I guess I'll have to call a tractor repair service or take the tire off and take it to the tractor shop down the road. I'm pretty sure I can roll it onto the truck and get it to the shop if need be, but I'd rather try the home fix first. The tire is probably filled with ballast of some sort so I would recomend making a trip to the tire store. the liquid is kept inside a tube. It will be hard to plug without draining the liquid. The tire shop will drain and refill the tire and either patch or replace the tube. They can even put a boot on the tire to patch it if required. Be careful around the tire as it is very heavy.

Do you have a picture of the valve stem.
Tubes often have a small nut on the valve stem to hold it into place.
I have liquid ballast (windshield washer fluid) in my rear tires with no tube. So it could be tube or tubeless.
A tube tire will need to be dismounted and drained to be repaired. Tubeless can often be repaired with a plug.

tubeless use a plug, wont hurt if one tire has a little more fluid than the other one

I have a Kubota L4400. The rear tires are AG tires. They are filled with ECO friendly AntiFreeze. I would never attempt to load one of the tires on a truck. If you have a trailer, please take the tractor to a Tire Shop. You can do what you wish, but that tire weighs quite alot. Be safe.

Thanks - I'll upload a photo of the valve stem.

Here's a photo of the valve stem and the tire is marked tubeless or may be used with tube or some suchDSCN2058.jpgDSCN2059.jpg

Thank - the best way to lift the tire would of course be the tractor, but I'll see what I can rig up - or ask the neighbor..
