Gearing doesn't make "power". 200HP at the flywheel is 200HP at the flywheel. If gearing was everything then CAT would install a 50HP engine in a D9 then gear it down farther to push the load.

Never said it was everything.

Gearing multiplies torque. Plain and simple.

250hp isn't required to move a heavy load, torque is.

What year is the truck? What size tires are on it? What gears does the truck have?

1000lb ft of torque at 1000rpm is a lousy performing engine. An engine with 500lb ft of torque at 4000rpm will walk all over your "torque" engine.
Do you understand the definition of work?

Who said anything about 1000lbft? Though we were comparing old 350's with 175hp/300ftlb to a 200hp 4.6?

You are really stretching my statement here. An anemic 350, 400M or 360 could haul a big load because of deep gearing. So could a properly geared 4.6.

I'm not pretending that gearing can make 50hp haul a 100k dozer??!!

We have some members here that talk torque, torque and torque but don't understand power. I did not know which group you were in. The 4.6 iirc had either 231 or 260HP.
The old low HP trucks could of course move the load but held up traffic via hill climbs at 30mph.

Pulled a 5500lb trailer a lot for a couple years. Motor is enough, but just enough on hills. The suspension had to be strengthened a bit though.

If you had bought that Tundra with the 5.7 and tow package(4:30 gears) you wouldn't need to sell it

That would be true, except when I drove the 07 (yes they were out) I really didn't like it at all. In fact I also drove the Ford 5.4 and Dodge Hemi. Did not like the handling of the Ford (mushy) or the inside or the Dodge at all. The 07 Tundra was very buzzy on the freeway, much like the 06 GMC I had just turned back in on the lemon law. So at the time buzzy trucks were a concern (for all the underlying problems it hid). I was not overly impressed with the brakes on it either, after all the bragging Toyota did. They were better than the 06 brakes but the 06 was and is an overall better truck. Have owned it since Sept 06 and it has not needed a single repair so far.

By contrast my 06 GMC 5.3 had been in the shop 11 times for various big issues. The first time was 1 week after I bought it, to replace the alternator with bad bearings. It went back to GM for a vibration issue that 8 trips to the dealer couldn't figure out.

I have a 2002 F150 with the 260 hp 5.4. Pull a 16 ft trailer loaded around 6500lbs fairly regular. Truck seems to handle trailer well enough but does struggle some on long hills. Not sure on the 4.6 but any less hp than I have now and those long hills might be more of a challenge.

So ,from what I am getting out of what you been told, this 4.6 (260HP)@4800rpms and 3:55s will have no problem out pulling 12V cummins with only(160/215hp)@2500rpm with 4:10s,cause it has more power to flywheel and higher rpm's?

That's exact opposite of what I'm saying.
