Rim Guard Ballast

My tractor dealer quoted me about $300 to add tubes and CaCl. It was approximate because he takes the tires to a local tire shop to have tubes and CaCl installed before putting them on the tractor (the tires and rims are not already on the new tractor when it is shipped).

The firm quote which I have accepted for adding 70 gallons of Rim Guard onsite is $334 (@$3.50 per gallon) and includes an extra $30 to travel to my place.

The Rim Guard is coming from a different tire shop than the one my tractor dealer would have used for the CaCl. That tire shop uses Bio-Tire beet juice but is out of stock. But he had quoted a price of $3.00 per gallon which would have brought the price to under $300.

The high cost for CaCl is due to my having to add tubes.

I just had Rim Guard install in my tractor. I didn't want nothing to do with CaCI. Salt will just rot my rims.
At $3.00 a gallon and the environment safe product was worth it to me. Beside the ride improve also.

If you don't mind. How many gallons what size tires and how much total? I am thinking about it but I am cheep, so I am also thinking RV antifreeze but no matter what I am holding out for tubes in the tubeless tires. Most people say I don't need the tubes but as you said rusted out rimes, been there done that didn't like the taste so I err on the overkill side!

You'll need tubes for calcium. Had Ca in my tires for 27 years and this was a tractor that did mostly logging so it ventured into some pretty rough terrain. The nice thing about calcium is that it is a do it yourself job at home should you spring a leak. Beet juice they seem to guard as if its a specialty item: Can only buy in large batches, need special stuff to pump it, only certain shops have it. Did I have any rim rot? Yes, after 27 years a small hole that I had rewelded when I changed out the tires and tubes.

I don't remember the tire size on my 1025R, but took $86. at $3.00 a gallon so that should be 28 gallons plus labor and tax in N.Y. for a total of $110.
I always look at it like this. Do it right the first time and it will be the lowest price you will pay.
When you cheep out and have to redo it it can cost you double.

Has anyone used windshield washer fluid for ballast? Several the dealers around here are using it. Are there any thoughts on using it?

There no weight to it, beside it can freeze to fast.
