No Hydraulics on KAMA 354X

The PTO Aux shaft does have a bladed end. This shaft is controlled by the PTO Engage/Disengage Lever. It is not affected by the lever to adjust the speed of the PTO shaft itself.
When the engine is running and the PTO Lever is Engaged, this Aux shaft should be spinning.
It's speed is controlled by the speed of the engine.

TS stands for TaiShan, a subsidiary of KAMA/ShanDong. But I had the nomenclature wrong, mine was a TS354C. That makes yours a TS354X. I forget the exact differences, but I'm almost positive the hydraulics are the same between the two variants.

My hydraulic pump mounts on the rear above the PTO shaft. It looks like the photo erj posted. I found a poorly copied diagram of the transmission and it shows the transmission outlet shaft that has a splined connector to the shaft that runs the PTO and the FEL. According to the diagram the PTO is operated by this rear shaft. The PTO has a lever next to the seat that has three position: Low-Off-High. The diagram does not show the linkage that operates the splined connector but if memory serves me right the little lever behind my left foot engages and disengages the splined connector when pulled up to turn the hydraulics on. I finally got the tractor into the garage where I have some heat to work on it. I'm thinking about removing the plate that holds the back two shift levers in place to see if I can see the splined shaft. If there is a better way to get a look inside the transmission case I sure would appreciate if someone told me how to do it.

Thanks for the replies

Woodsman,
I realize that you are new to this site and I have some suggestions.
When someone raises a question in response to your problem, it is important that you respond so we can eliminate or pursue. (e.g. way back in post #2 Rich asked whether it was pumping fluid and raised the question of possible ‘wrong rotation’ - I haven’t seen answers to either of those)
It then took until post 13 to confirm that you had a rear-mounted pump like the picture that I posted in post 7.
And I haven’t seen a response to the info that I provided in post 11.

Woodsman,
See if this helps any. These are related to my Jinma 284. From your posts, it appears that your 祖ontrol levers are located on the left side vs the Jinma which has them on the right side.
The lever that you refer to as a hydraulic On/Off is actually a mechanical connection the engages/disengages the PTO as you will see in the pictures below.

Picture 1
At the top is the PTO Engage/Disengage lever (98). This turns (92) which causes (64) to move forward and backward. When lever is engaged, (64) causes a connection between drive shaft (56) from engine and PTO Aux shaft (154 in Picture 2).

Picture 2
PTO shaft that sticks out the back of the tractor is (166). The speed control lever for this shaft is (142) which turns (148), moves (149) and slides (162) to change gearing.

erj, I'm sorry about not replying to some of the posts. I did not reply to Rich because I could not tell if the PTO or pump shafts were turning at all. With the motor running and everything on, the PTO and the pump shafts would not move at all. I took the pump off to see if anything was moving and neither the pump shaft or the PTO shaft would turn with the engine on. I then manually turned the pump shaft with a crescent wrench and the PTO shaft would turn also. It seems that my levers are on the opposite side of the Jinma's. The only thing I have on the right side is the implement height control lever.
Thank You for the exploded diagrams of your Jinma 284. I wish I could find such a diagram for my KAMA. I would post some pictures but I don't know how to do it on this site. I also don't know how to print the diagram you posted.
I'm sorry if I have offended anyone with my posts. I can rip the engine out of a car and rebuild it and put it back together with very few parts left over but this KAMA addles my mind sometimes.
I think my problem may be with my version of part #64 so I'm going to pop the top off the transmission case and see if I can see if it moves with the linkage.
Thank for your help erj. I really appreciate it.

Woodsman,

If you're using Windows on your computer, put the mouse cursor over the diagram and right click. You will see a pop-up pane that offers several options. The one you want is "Save image as..." Click on that and a new pane pops up asking where to save the image. I usually save them to my desktop or to a folder I have labeled "Tractor" - you select whatever location works best for you. At the bottom of hat pane you will see the title of the image, in the case of the first diagram it is "Numbered 0001.jpg". You can change that to something like "Transmission breakdown 1.jpg" if you want. Or anything else as long as you keep the .jpg extension. That extension indicates that it is an image file coded in the Joint Photographic Group (jpg) format so your image editing program can open it and know what to do with it. After you have saved it you can double click on the file name and it will open in your default photo viewer/editor program (in my case Microsoft Office Picture Manager) where you can then print it or edit it.

Hope this helps!

A few months ago I had to replace the hydraulic pump on my KAMA when my son was bush hogging for me. He evidently ran over a sapling that popped a quick disconnect fitting that was ~10" from the pressure outlet of the pump and the pump cracked. We tried to use the tractor today and I have no hydraulics at all. The reservoir is full, the on\off valve is on but we get no pressure. Any Help?

Thanks

What happened above can happen again.

The pump hose should go to a valve with a relief, or install an external relief valve before any QD. Then if the hose disconnects, the pump flow will be diverted to tank.

Someone described a switch that will turn hyd off. I am not sure that statement is correct, because in an open center hyd system, the pump fluid is flowing all the time, and has to flow to tank. The switch may divert the fluid to tank, but not stop all flow.

There might be a mechanical switch to stop the gears from turning and therefore no pump flow.

J-J, if the word switch was in there, I missed it. This tractor has two hydraulic pumps; an engine-driven self-bypassing steering pump, and a rear PTO driven pump for the TPH and FEL. What you're calling a "switch" is actually a lever that simply engages or disengages the aux PTO, which in turn drives the rear pump.

Woodsman; I wouldn't put much stock in those Jinma diagrams (relative to your TaiShan). Did you not get any manuals with that tractor? If no, contact Chip or Jason at ARTRAC, they'll fix ya right up. KAMA/TaiShan tractors are no longer imported to the US, but those guys still have connections to get parts and manuals.
