More bush hog help please!

Okay, for those that saw my other thread, I didn't get the used one. I bought a new Howse 4'.

Now the problem...hooking it up. I case you haven't figured it out, I have no experience with these things.

The two lower arms, that attach to the BH, are so far apart when I put them on the pins on the BH, that they hit the rear tires unless I go perfectly straight. I know that the tire have two ways of mounting, so I switched them around so they are in the wider position. What a PIA that was. Frozen 35 year old bolts! But I got it done. It is better now, but the tires do still hit the arms sometimes.

The only thing I can think to do, is to re-mount the pins, so that they face the inside of the A-frame looking thing

on the BH.

I am going to try and attach a picture, but I am not sure that it will help, if I can figure out how to do it.

You are correct... put the pins on the inside.

What Harry said. In addition, you might consider adjustable sliding stabilizer bars. I had turnbuckle stabilizers similar to yours and it was a pita to hook up. I got mine from StabilWorks

Some people have made them. These work great and save my back and a lot of aggravation.

They look convenient, but isn't it something that I only have to adjust once?

No. When I get ready to attach, I set them wide, back up and pull the two little pins on the slide. Then I can easily move the lower link arms sideways to slip them on the lift pins. After I get all three points hooked up, I raise the implement a few inches off the ground and then move the implement by hand to the center and pin one side then push the implement the other way and pin the other side. That way it doesn't rub my tires.

Then when I'm ready to drop, I pull the 2 pins and can easily slide the lift arms off the bottom links.

Makes sense. I am not sure, after the morning that I had getting that thing hooked up, that I will ever remove it! The drive shaft REALLY did not want to mate with the gear box.

All is working now. Mowed a little in the back field, before taking a lunch break. Back at it soon.
