Well we've been iced/snowed in for three days now. Could get out and go somewhere but spent so much time getting ready for this storm we thought we would just sit around for a few days. But I find that I have made a few mistakes.

The first one happened when we, that is SWMBO and I, decided to clean out the pantry. "Do you want this?" she asked as she handed me a three year old package of dried seven bean soup mix. I decided that it would be a good lunch and put it in a pot to cook. Then I ate the whole thing. By myself. She doesn't like soup. What I didn't eat for lunch I finished for supper.

She moved to another bedroom about 2 in the morning. Still can't walk from one end of the house to the other without sounding like a semi gearing down.

Second mistake was moving wedding supplies from my storage building's upstairs to the sunroom so she could work on them. (Not for any of ours, wife is putting on a wedding for somebody else that we don't even know. Long story.) Wife's idea was to pull the Toyota around and load everything in the back, then pull the car in the garage and unload it. Not a good idea I told her, easier to just carry everything across a hundred and fifty feet of glare ice. Easy to do when carrying a hundred pound box.

It was not pretty or graceful. Don't think there will be any permanent damage.

She is also sewing. It is my job to rethread the serger which I have done three times without sewing my fingers. But while helping her cut out a pattern (I am bored) I managed to stick a needle the way thru the little finger on my left hand. That was the third mistake.

I am very bored or I would not be typing this.

Maybe I can vacumn the house again.

RSKY, you guys got slammed with ice....it's skirting us again about 80miles north. But it's been raining for 3 days and will continue for two more days. The creek is less than 2' from it's bank...if it goes over, then things get interesting here. These days are god for re-organizing the ammo & wiping down the firearms. I have been picking up a few old Coleman lanterns lately, and one of those is good for a couple of hours to re-hab it properly.

Seems like your complaining about cabin fever. The best way to fight it is to know it's coming. I can remember several times being snowed in for over a week in Vermont. We lived a mile in on a dirt road and the plows had no priority to get to us. We just dealt with it. Of course we had TV with 3 channels and indoor plumbing.

We got hit with an ice storm here in Cove Arkansas a few days ago. The power was off for those 2 days.

Power finally came back on at 6:00PM last night.

I had no other heat than the heat in my truck so I had to drive my truck around to stay warm.

I'm so glad it came back on sooner as it wasn't expected to be back on until 12:30 AM tomorrow night.

I slept out in my truck as it was warmer in the truck even without the heater on.

The house was like a freezer.

It is always hard to buy a cheap generator at a auction after one of those ice storms.

We are being hit with exceedingly cold weather. Thankfully no rain, freezing rain or ice. It is predicted to warm up and snow later this week. I always get a little nervous when it gets so very cold - I'm all electric here and loss of electricity could mean frozen water pipes. Never happened in the thirty years I've been here but I do have a wood stove for backup heat.

BTW - I once made 5 bean bread - had the same effect as your soup. Had to take a solemn oath - NEVER make it again.

Good thing you do not live in Chapel Hill, NC. It is against the law in that town for trucks to use a Jake Brake. You might have been arrested....

Just say'n. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

The ice went to the north of us and I don't think it was that bad up there. It has been raining for days and I am sick of it. Got lucky in that the rain stopped on Saturday which was good because I was working outside for my second job and it was COLD too. I was afraid I was going to be cold and wet. Not fun. The cold was bad enough. Raining again today and supposed to end today. I have a bunch of chores I wanted to get down in the last couple of days but it has been raining so much I have been expecting to see Noah... ;)

Later,
Dan
