Hi Guys,

That 3520 is a short little tractor LOL. Nice. But short. Clearly not in the same league as the Kioti.

Still, I think Murph's take matches best with mine. I also don't know how well Kioti will keep up with the parts and support for the DK series since they are being phased out. I know Deere will always provide parts for their tractors. It's part of why they charge such premium prices. (That, and obviously course green paint and plastic cost more than orange or red.)

So I think I'll go green this time. Never thought I would after my B2710 turned out to be such a great tractor, but that's life. Guessing I'll probably post a thread at some point asking if anyone wants to split a 4 pack of 2" wheel spacers in the next few months.

Thanks for helping me work through this!

Well when you get right down to it you don't even NEED a tractor. An undocumented immigrant with a push mower and wheel barrow and shovel will do nicely.
But as long as you're here and asked I'd have to agree that the DK is a lot more overkill then the JD for the money. The local DK dealership here has been having trouble staying in business which would give me pause but as you don't need it everyday it would be a small risk to you if you had to go further for parts sometime down the road. That’s as close as I can being myself to recommend orange over green being totally green biased .:D
BTW, loved this post. I'm not planning on running for office after all.

I would not over think the parts on the DK, they will be there.

I'm sure they will. I just wonder if there will be a longer wait if you need them. Add to that the fact that I'm more likely to break a little tractor than a big one, and it's a wash.

I said to take the Deere as you really don't need a tractor with having a Zero turn to cut so the 3540 would be your toy.

Hi, I thought you meant we could use both to cut. We have an old Dixon zero turn now. One of the original chain drive types, and I think we'll continue to use that on the "finish cut" areas. Probably an acre or so, and flail cut the rest. It's not as fast at cutting, and not as nice a cut, but tractors are far more comfortable on bumpy pasture type mowing.

In that case take the DK. It will give you a better ride and easier to hook up implements and has a rear control for three point hitch.

Thanks, I do try to be worth reading. But dont let your wife see it before the tractor purchase is complete and you have done a couple of projects for her with it.

Hi Snowed In,
My wife likes the smaller Deere and a zero turn for around the house. That was her vote last night, and she knows it isn't a needed item. It's a luxury. When we lived in Williston, I had a B2710, and we kind of did need that. I think of this Deere as comparable. Heavier, but not really much bigger.

Murph,
I spoke to the Kioti dealer, and he could do 23,800 delivered. Amazing value for that tractor, but I'm still leaning towards the Deere. I figure if the Deere is too small, I can probably sell it in the next year for very close to what I'm paying and get a Kioti. Not sure I could do the reverse as easily around here.

Good luck then if that's what you want, go for it. I don't think you would have much of a problem selling the DK.
