I have a 1957 Feather Craft. You don't see a lot of them anymore. I love how light it is. You can pick up the end of it by yourself. The same can be said for the Evinrude that came on it. You can pick up one end of it by yourself. But if you want to get it off the floor, it is better to have two folks lifting. I never got the old motor running, but I have hung on to it all these years. I do know a fellow who works on old stuff, but the cost has scared me away so far. Larro

Larro, external tanks on outboards that old are pressure tanks. The tank has to be pressurized for fuel to flow from the tank to the outboard. Smaller outboards (5 hp or less) had gravity feed tanks on the motor. Gas oil mix is 16 to 1 or 24 to 1 makes them "smokey". Seloc has a repair manual that covers the older models as well as the not so old ones if you get the itch to fix it.

Good Morning. 0920, Overcast, 47* with 89% humidity. Forecast calls for a high of 54* then clearing off and dropping down to 34* tonight. Everyone be careful out there {Drew, I'm talking to you too} today. I have a 1957 Feather Craft. You don't see a lot of them anymore. I love how light it is. Mine is a 1960 it's been refinished/ restored and I have to redo the seats this winter or spring. Used plywood first time around and the plywood delaminates. Will use marine plywood this time around. It has a 40 Johnson motor and runs right along.

Did some plowing, then off to tsc and Kroger's. More snow fun in the am. I sure wish I had a heated shop, but the $$$ just aren't there.

I can do some basic repair, but that is about it. If I try to fix the Big Twin, I will have to have help. And I have a couple or three with of each kind of fuel tank, all pretty old. My 'new' outboard is a 1978. When we bought it, we got a chainsaw at the same time. They both cost around $500. Today a saw still cost about $500, but an outboard is $2 or $3K. One is for work, and one is for play. You pay to play.

Your boat looks really good. I bought mine from a pawnshop, and had to repair the transom before putting it in the water. I have a friend who builds boats, but he was afraid to do much with the thin aluminum, so we used plywood to repair it. At the time, money was tight so I didn't use Marine plywood. It has lasted for 15 years, but needs replacing now. The steering wheel and it's cable are pretty rough too. I have thought about getting it spruced up, but so far I haven't decided to spend the money. I use a 25 hp motor on mine, not the old one that came with it. But it is plenty of motor for my little river.

Bah Humbug! I want my Christmas to be 80 degrees, with some outdoor fun!

It'll be around 80 degrees where I have my Christmas. Out on the deck under a large sum umbrella. Then off to the beach. This time of the year they have a lot of Beach Volleyball Contests. Standard wear for Women is a ****** (top and bottom) and for the men is a pair of Budgie-smugglers.

Tim the feathercraft boats were really popular after WWII and at that time were built using aircraft aluminum. The starter of the company was into speed boat racing so the designs of the hawk and other models were racing boats. My boat is a Hawk III that was modified way back when to make it a fishing boat by adding a fishing seat to the front of the boat. We decided to not fabricate sheet metal to close off the front and went with a storage area. We have a few of them on our body of water so we take over when we are not on our sunfish! LOL
